So they bring back Sophitia?

They best be bringing back all of the other veterans that got ditched: Talim, Zasalamel, Taki, REAL Kilik, Seung Mina, Cassandra, Setsuka, Yun-Seong, and whomever I'm missing.

 

I'm curious as to how they all look after the time skip. Of course I'm assuming the game takes place after it.

 

Man I just... can't bring myself to care about that trailer. I don't usually say this about fighters but it really looks like the same game. And they're advertising Sophitia, of all people? When the cast is already clogged with too many sword & board characters? Bad move, y'all. Give me back Zasalamel, or Yun Seong, or really anybody that shouldn't have been cut.

 

It essentially is, just like with the F2P Tekken and the F2P Dead or Alive. It's how the developers plan to save money.

I see the game as a nice distraction, but I'm not entirely interested in the series right now. Won't be until Soulcalibur VI, where they'll hopefully fix the atrocious story (fighting games have generally little story but jeez V's story was bad,) bring back the veterans while introducing more unique styles, and add a LOT more modes.

They really should have stuck with the story mode of the past games. You know, just beat the crap out of a bunch of characters, fight the final boss, get the ending, do it all over again, ???, PROFIT. Hell, I still think SC3's story mode is the best one of the series. Not Chronicles of the Sword mode, btw. Though I liked that, more then I probably should have...

Looks like to me nothing's new with the gameplay either. Though I still favor the 3rd one for sorts of reasons.

Oh boy I can already imagine the spam attack bloodbath in the future.
