Kingdom Hearts II Soooo.....

What do you guys think happened with Maleficient? She dead, or just biding her time to appear in the next game? And will Pete be with her? Or another villian?

I personally think she's out there, just waiting. Pete's probably with her, he's too much of a wimp at heart to actually leave.

There might be another thread about this, but I didn't see it.

 

Nobody dies in Kingdom Hearts.
They just get really big booboos, scowl, and move forward.

For Maleficent: Not likely. She's as much a cornerstone to the Heartless and Disney Villainry in the game as King Mickey is to Light and Disney Good guys. She has been erased, but likely not for good. Perhaps the realm of Nothingness has a play here. Or perhaps Coded will at one point be classified as a non-canon game and just something Square came up with for your mobile phone.

For Pete: Pardo'n moi Francais, but Hell No. Pete has been banished before so it's likely he just got banished again, like said with Malificent. He's too much of a comic relief and a classic Disney character (Somewhere in a border between Good and Bad). Note: The only Disney Villains that die in game are the ones that die in their respective movies. e.g Ursula,

though she didn't die...she just got erased...even though the journal was erased they were still able to reach iits old content...same goes for maleficient

 

We haven't seen the last of her yet. She's the center Disney Villain and so far has had a pretty different role to the rest of the villains in almost every game so far. With the exception being 358/2 days, (Even in CoM, her copy is able to realize her existence was fake), but even then she was the one who released Pete who did her dirty work in her absents. Considering Pete didn't know she was dead, one could assume he was still following his original orders given to her. To gather a heartless army to overtake the worlds. And since Pete was...

The first to join her in BBS, it's possible he might have been her most trusted henchmen. And was sent on this mission, that was never told to the other members for Maleficent' own personal goals of taking over the worlds. I never believed Maleficent planned to share the worlds and power with the fellow villains. This would be her own army to do as she wished. To either defend herself from a coup or to unleash upon the worlds once they had the PoHs.

If anything she likely opened a corridor of darkness and escaped death once again.

Pete being a central Disney character, who has as far as I know never died in any movie, won't be killed off. If I recall correctly, in the KH2 credits he is noted as being the "Studio Mascot". The staff might like him almost as much as Axel, which would explain his increased role in BBS. I don't see him dying either.

Unless I'm incorrect, Pete is an animal of some sort. Then again I might just be thinking of Naughty Dog, who has a dog that just runs around the studio. However, I think Pete is probably just a studio-doh something to the same effect.

Then again, Axel became such a favorite amongst the crew, Axel's lifespan was continued from the End of the Roxas Tutorial up to when he sacrifices himself. He was originally meant to die after Roxas defeats him.

My point though, is simply to state I believe Pete the character and the Pete in the credits of KH II are two seperate beings.

 

Definitely coming back. After all, she just spent the last of KHII estate shopping. hahahha And with the heartless, she's way too powerful to get over run by them THAT easily. Though there sure was a lot, but a doubt that she'll lose.

Anyway, since we know that Maleficent is alive in Coded then she will sure come back in the next installment. The point is that Maleficent is the darkness/evil itself, as her name states, hence she is not able to die, just weaken as darkness does. As long as there is need in balance between light and darkness Maleficent will exist.

 

If she's still looking for a base of operations I've heard that Castle Oblivion is currently vacant.

 

It's quite possible. I've heard that some video games and other entertainment studios taking mascots. But the strange thing is "Pete" is only noted as the mascot in KH2. If it had been a studio pet of some sort, you'd think it would have been said more than once. But I'm not ruling out the possibility of a pet nicknamed/named after Pete. As someone pointed out, Pete is based on a cat. While working on the game a nickname/name could've been given to a staff members cat as a reference to the Disney character. But you never know.
