For KHV Chorus and my own personal covers, I've been uploading them at MAXIUM QUALITY. ...Which literally takes my computer like four hours+ render, which is ridiculous. Because I really don't -need- it to be in the greatest quality since rarely anyone bothers to switch the quality from 340p to begin with.

Yesterday I uploaded a cover of mine ("Sayoko" on my Youtube in my sig, since I don't know if it would be advertising to post it) using different settings. Instead of rendering in WMV, I switched to rendering in MP4 and lowered the quality to 720p HD ...or something.

It worked out pretty well, rendering in 20 minutes instead of 2 hours like the instrumental did, but the video doesn't fill the screen and the better the quality you watch it in, the weirder the text looks. [/sob]

Anyway, if anyone uses Sony Vegas, do you have any setting you use specifically? Any tips on getting faster rendering with still-pretty results? If you need anymore information, let me know.

I am by no means a video expert, I barely know anything, but this is what I use:

    1. First, make sure that your dimensions are properly set in File -> Properties...
    2. Now, in the Render As... window, use Windows Media Video V11 (*.wmv) in Save as Type.
    3. For Template, hit the Custom button.
    4. On the Audio tab...
      1. Include Audio: Checked
      2. Mode: CBR
      3. Format: Windows Media Audio 9.2
      4. Attributes: 64 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo (A/V) CBR
    5. On the Video tab...
      1. Mode: CBR
      2. Format: Windows Media Video 9
      3. Image Size: (Keep original size)
      4. Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000 (Square)
      5. Frame rate (fps): 29.970 (NTSC)
      6. Seconds per keyframe: 3
      7. Override default compression buffer (seconds): Unchecked
      8. Video Smoothness: 100 ( Sharpest)
    6. On the Bit Rate tab...
      1. Everything is unchecked, except
      2. Internet/LAN: 2.50 M
    7. Ignore the Index/Summary tab.
    8. On the Project tab...
      1. Both dropdowns set to (Use Project Settings)
I usually get nice quality videos from this with a low file size. Rendering time isn't bad, I don't think, but I don't make terribly complicated videos, and if your computer is slow it could be longer. Feel free to play around with the settings. =]

^ This, but I usually save my videos in .avi format instead of .wmv .
