I'm considering getting an old copy of Sony Vegas because I'm too cheap too get a recent one. Are there any MAJOR differences between 7.0 and 8.0 or are they about the same? Cuz they're definetely not the same price lol
The major features that were added to 8 that weren't on 7 are: -ProType Titling technology -Multicamera editing tools -32-bit floating point video processing -Customizable window layouts -Improved HDV/SDI/XDCAM support -Mixing console window I assume that you're gonna be making AMVs with the program, right? If so, there's no need to worry because chances are that you won't even use any of those features. I use Sony Vegas 8 and I can honestly say that the differences between the two won't make much of difference unless you plan to use the program professionally. So buying 7 instead of 8 won't make much of a difference.
If I remember correctly, the layout changes on Vegas 8 and above: Whereas the preview window used to be located below the timeline by default, it is now above. I believe it can be moved around to suit one's preferences though. Also, there are some file format support issues that I believe were solved in 8.0 (IIRC, whereas .avi files are a hassle to use in 7.0, later versions fix a lot of those problems). Effect and transition-wise, there are no major differences, and the drag-and-drop timeline interface should also be the same. Overall, you won't be missing much.
Thanks for all the help! I think I'll defineltely get 7.0 if it's the same as 8 for the most part cuz it's like $100 cheaper
