Sony really missed a great opportunity to sell a lot more consoles. I am beginning to lose faith in them. They announce a newer super slim model but the price is a little more than what they offer now. Yes it is a bundle with Uncharted 3 and $30 worth of Dust 514 dlc and a bigger hard drive but it is still to much in America. Consumers there look first at price and less at value. A 12gb flash memory model for 149 or 199 would sell like crazy even though it does not have a hard drive. It is just the price. Sony needs to get their act together and focus in their audience they are selling to. The Xbox 360 arcade model moved a lot of consoles for MS in America and it had no memory at all. Sony needs to look at this and see that they will make a lot more off of cheaper flash memory consoles than the ones they announced. They will make money not only from the console but also hard drive sales and other playstation accessories. It does look really bloody nice though. Like you said though Libre, it could be a supply issue that's causing it, but it seems really silly.
The only thing I don't like about the new model is the uneven top. And I'm guessing we won't see the PS4 for at least a few more years. Not that that's a bad thing. I just didn't expect a newer version of the PS3.
The thing is did they really need a console revision? I see no real point apart from size. The production models so far could've been modified appropriately, in order to reduce problems and voltage and etc. I would've expected this being announced at an E3 or something saying 'we're still committed to the PS3 brand, even as we look towards the future. So we've designed a new PS3!' and then they announce the PS4 later or whatever. Just seems out of nowhere for no real reason.
