Far as I can tell, this has been mentioned a few times, but no official thread exists for it now that it's out. Please merge/move/delete as necessary. Via Sega's official website Gameplay from supersonic14 Usually I'm on top of new Sonic games but this one kinda came out of nowhere for me. No adverts, no headlines, no hype... It just materialized one day. But yeah anyway. Oh my god. They have stages. From EVERY GAME. I am insanely nervous about this. There are parts of it that look amazing and parts that look terrible. Sonic on platform has had such a curse for such a long time, and every effort they make to relive the old nostalgia falls short of the mark for a lot of reasons. On the other hand, reviews haven't smashed it, the content looks genuinely fun and comprehensive... And after swearing off Sonic when Unleashed hit... Man, I just don't know. But I still feel like I owe it a go. Maybe I'll get the Steam version since it's cheaper. Thoughts? Anyone bought it and want to weigh in? Anybody with the PC version care to tell us how it runs (and maybe, if you're really nice, include your system specs for reference)?
Going to buy it soon, might get it at Christmas. I am hearing good things about it. I liked the previous Sonic's, but this looks like a return to Nostalgia.
Last Sonic game I had was for the Genesis. Seeing as how there are 2D levels, I am considering getting this game for some nostalgia.
I worry when people say they want the nostalgia. Part of the nostalgia is the fact that some levels had a tendency to be "Hold right to win" and others were brutal trial-and-error torture chambers. Granted, trading that for controls that lead to more deaths than actually being defeated or making mistakes it not exactly a step up, but I'd prefer a third option personally :L
It's been many years since I played a Sonic game. All I remember is lots and lots of running. As long as I have fun with the 2D mode, I'm good.
That would be the only reason I would buy it. I love 2D Sonic but 3D Sonic doesn't entertain me much.
Sonic Generations was nice I like how they all most got every character from the games in there the plot was cool as well I got to play it for it got into the us because of my friend from europe came back the day after when it come out I like the ps3 ver that what he got but I got Pc ver its nice sill :3
I played the demo. The 2D Greenhill Zone felt like a carbon copy of the Genesis one, and the 3D Greenhill Zone gave me mixed feelings. As usual the speed effect feels really nice, but it makes you notice everything there is to notice two seconds too late. Could be fun, especially for those who didn' t play the Genesis games, but the Rayman Origins demo I downloaded the same day made it rather obvious that it' s a much more ambitious platformer.
Being a fan of both styles of gameplay, I think Generations is one of the best Sonic titles released in a while. I didn't play Colors, so I have no opinion on that one. My only major gripe is that the game is kinda short. Even with the Spoiler side missions for both Sonics and Spoiler red star rings the game wasn't very long in all. I think DLC would be a good idea for this game, especially if they choose levels that the fans would love. (Which is basically Ice Cap zone, if you're on the SEGA forums.)
I don't mind length, as long as I'm entertained as much as I was playing the old Sonic games, I'm good. I'll probably get this game in a month after I've finished Assassin's Creed Revelations.
So far I'm loving it, I find myself playing the same levels every day and they still haven't lost that fun factor. The classic sonic plays just as you remember him. Plus there's a few new twists they've thrown in for some levels, which, in my opinion, adds to the fun of the game.
It's not pulling off a Sonic '06 here. Phew. How does Shadow fit into the story then (if you're that far)?
Sonic '06 is less than nothing compared to Generations. Anyway, the only part Shadow plays in the story is that he's the second Rival boss of the game. Which is unfortunate since I like Shadow.
