Apparently the Cheshire Cat looks like a cross between the live-action Garfield and Nightcrawler from the X-Men movies. So this I have to see.
So did Watchmen, and that movie was fantastic, by my standards anyway. But the most controversial thing about this new movie is that Tim Burton butchered the story and made his own universe about Wonderland. (Or Underland, lolz)
>:| This. Completely disregarding my hatred for Johnny Depp, I have pretty low expectations for this movie. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but it's just... no. Alice has to be a child.
It seems like the Mad Hatter has a much bigger part in this movie than in the original. He hosted Tea Time, that's about it. And in this, to me, it looks like he's the most integral character aside from Alice. It's nice to put a spin on the movie, but to shred it to bits and tape it back how you want is just...no...
I agree that he has a bigger role then the character has supposed to have. But you are forgetting we are talking about a superstar here, it's the same guy they PAID 40 MILION dollars to do the 4th PotC movie, PLUS the salary he gets for playing Jack. Of course they had to give him a bigger role. I've read somewhere that Depp has never played this good until now. So yeah, even though you might not like his acting style, you gotta give him credit for that. Why is this a bad thing? He just wants to create Wonderland as he thinks it looks. You are forgetting that it's Tim Burton we're talking about. He always gives his own (mostly dark) twist to his movies. I personally like this alot about him. It's not based on the Disney animation, it's based on the original story, mixed with Burtons own thoughts and a dash of Hollywood. People want these kind of films. As do I, because they mostly look awesome. There are iron soldiers shaped like cards, they look badass. It would look silly if they would've put real cards like in the animation. Again, they did not intend to base it on the Disney animation. Yeah. I kinda might sorta have gained a liking in the movie.
