    Saw it coming.
I really love that song. It uses more complicated dictions than any other Disney song I can think of.
Heck try looking at the lyrics and tell me there aren't some big words!
    [Scar:]
    I never thought hyenas essential
    They're crude and unspeakably plain
But maybe they've a glimmer of potential
If allied to my vision and brain

    [Scar singing:]
I know that your powers of retention
Are as wet as a warthog's backside
But thick as you are, pay attention
My words are a matter of pride
It's clear from your vacant expressions
The lights are not all on upstairs
But we're talking kings and successions
Even you can't be caught unawares
So prepare for a chance of a lifetime
    Be prepared for sensational news
    A shining new era
    Is tiptoeing nearer
    [Shenzi:]
    And where do we feature?
    [Scar:]
    Just listen to teacher
    I know it sounds sordid
    But you'll be rewarded
When at last I am given my dues
    And injustice deliciously squared
    Be prepared!
    [Spoken]
    [Banzai:] Yeah, Be prepared.
    Yeah-heh... we'll be prepared, heh.
    ...For what?
[Scar:] For the death of the king.
    [Banzai:] Why? Is he sick?
[Scar:] No, fool-- we're going to kill him. And Simba too.
[Shenzi:] Great idea! Who needs a king?
    [Shenzi (and then Banzai):]
    No king! No king! la--la-la--la-laa-laa!
[Scar:] Idiots! There will be a king!
[Banzai:] Hey, but you said, uh...
[Scar:] I will be king! ...Stick with me, and
    you'll never go hungry again!
[Shenzi and Banzai:] Yaay! All right! Long live the king!
[All Hyenas:] Long live the king! Long live the king!
    [Full song again]
[Hyenas: {In tight, crisp phrasing and diction}]
It's great that we'll soon be connected.
    With a king who'll be all-time adored.
[Scar:] Of course, quid pro quo, you're expected
To take certain duties on board
The future is littered with prizes
And though I'm the main addressee
The point that I must emphasize is
You won't get a sniff without me!
So prepare for the coup of the century
    (Oooh!)
Be prepared for the murkiest scam
    (Oooh... La! La! La!)
    Meticulous planning
    (We'll have food!)
    Tenacity spanning
    (Lots of food)
    Decades of denial
    (We repeat)
    Is simply why I'll
    (Endless meat)
    Be king undisputed
    (Aaaaaaah...)
    Respected, saluted
    (...aaaaaaah...)
And seen for the wonder I am
    (...aaaaaaah!)
Yes, my teeth and ambitions are bared
    (Oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo)
    Be prepared!
    [All:]
Yes, our teeth and ambitions are bared
    Be prepared!

And since Scar is quite possibly the most intelligent villain in all of Disneyverse, perhaps even moreso than Jafar, it's not that surprising.
Every villain is either some stuck up idiot noble, or some big bad witch, or something similar, but not Scar, and that's why Droid loves him so.

True, most of them can be stuck up. But once scar got his power he became a bit boring don't yah think?

I'd go with Syndrome from The Incredibles as Smartest Disney villain, honestly. Yes it counts.
Scar obviously read Hamlet one day and then decided to kill off his brother. Sure, his plan succeeded, but he sucked at being a king. It wasn't that well thought out.

I gotta say I agree with Forsaken, Syndrome was one Disney's smartist villians.
He plotted for over 20 (?) years on how to become the world's greatest super hero. He bought an island with an active volcano, knowing that the land would be fertile enough so that his community could grow it's own food. He had the social and business skills needed to get his 200 billion dollar project on track. He created fabulous gizmos, and then hired others to build it for him. And he was patient enough, to slowly snipe off as many superhero's as he could find, while he strengthened his machine. Of course, in the end he lost his allies due to his greed, and his cape.

I'd forgotten The Incredibles was Disney actually.
It depends on what we're calling 'smart', I suppose. On the one hand, Syndrome plotted how to be the world's best superhero and succeeded even without superpowers of his own, but looking again he didn't learn from the mistakes of others and wore a cape, which got him killed.

That's true. But it's probably one of the funniest and most ironic moments in the movie haha.

Good point. If it were anything but a Disney movie, he'd have had Joker Immunity and kept coming back for more.
Alas, Disney can't have a villain get away with it.

I actually agree that Disney has made smarter villains, but Scar always seemed like the most genuinely evil one(plus he's a Lion, you've got to give him credit for being that conniving as a Lion). Deceiving an army of hyenas, later turning his back on them. Killing his brother without any regret, and thinking he had orchestrated the killing of his nephew without regret. Almost ate a mouse, etc. Scar's character design always intrigued me the most, plus he's a lion with a black mane and a scar, he's just awesome.

Syndrome, Jafar, Scar, and Ursula would be some of the smartest villians, yet they all lacked somthing. Scar's leadership skills I suppose, Syndrome's pride, Jafar's greed, and Ursula's inability to dodge.

    Truth.

I was going to say Frollo was a great villain, too--sure, hey may not have been the smartest, in comparison to those above, but he was pretty intelligent. In the end, he let his pride get the better of him.
