Did anyone other than me realize that Its not in DDD? In my personal opinion, its always been sora's TRUE basic keyblade.... if anyone responds to this i'll explain further cause I have to go now...

Sorry to say but I disagree, the kingdom key has always been his basic keyblade and the oathkeeper..well.It wasn't really ever appealing to me I guess maybe it's just me and the fact I'm so literal with these types of things but maybe if you explained why you think It should be his basic keyblade I might be able to understand.

    Wrong section...

Anyway, as much as I like the Oathkeeper keyblade, I still think the Kingdom Key should be Sora's default weapon

It is too strong for a basic weapon (taking the word basic as starting) though it seems wrong for it not to be added into a KH game given its link to Kairi and how those two are together. The Kingdom Key also fits better as the basic weapon given its stats and design, as starting out Sora can go anywhere and with the Kingdom Key being so plain I think it represents that fact nicely.

No, I doubt you were the only one that noticed that it's not in the game.

Kingdom Key, Oathkeeper, Oblivion, and Ultima are Keyblades that I feel should be in every KH game where Sora is the main character.
I don't think it should be his standard keyblade, as that would be unbalanced in the dichotomy of light and darkness represented by Oathkeeper and Oblivion. They represent two sides of the same coin, and one should not be given precedent over the other. Oathkeeper represents Kairi, Oblivion represents Riku, one should not be given precedent over the other.

    My main reasons for thinking that way are related to his relationship with kairi, but thats not the whole story, so i am gonna do this hypothesis in chronological order of its involvement in the series... this might take a bit...here we go;
Birth by Sleep: In kingdom hearts birth by sleep every character starts with a unique keyblade, but was it that way when they first became apprentices? Recently i have joined KH SOS and krowley's basic concept to equipping keyblades is that when you first sign up, you HAVE to equip kindom key. this is something i have thought about do they merely "Start" with a kingdom key and it becomes otherwise later? of course it must. because the weapons are unique to the character, the keyblade draws on the strength of the users heart (changing shape depending on what they are like), and kingdom key is the keyblades true form.
Kingdom hearts: so yeah here is the kairi part. he got the keyblade when he got kairi's good luck charm and its one of the best keyblades in the game, along with its undying partner Oblivion. both are used in the secret ending as Roxas keyblades. which plays a big part. Roxas.... Nobody of Sora.
Kingdom hearts 358/2 days: so the only people who can use it here are roxas and xion. Roxas can be modified to duel wield Oathkeeper and Oblivion.
Kingdom hearts 2: yeah so the whole Roxas thing again. i think ive given enough evidence for me to go over.

I believe Oathkeeper is soras true weapon because its the only one other than Oblivion that is truly tailored to represent the things he goes through. if everyone can use the kingdom key (even if not in terms of gameplay) than is it really his? aren't the bad guys always saying that he is pathetic and the keyblade isnt even his and hes relying too much on its power? This is my thought Oathkeeper is soras TRUE keyblade formed by the power of his heart. but only his keyblade of light as even kingdom key has a dark keyblade counterpart, kingdom key D (even though thats pretty much the only known light and dark keyblade) so what i'm saying is Oathkeeper is Soras light and Oblivion is his darkness.... im done i think....[DOUBLEPOST=1360521513][/DOUBLEPOST]perhaps the question should have been asked differently... can i change it?

What do you mean basic weapon? Like it just being part of his collection?

Kingdom Key perfectly symbolizes Sora, so I think not.

except the mickey keychain, but other than that yeah.

It also looks like a standard keyblade. Oathkeeper is far too ornate to be anything like a standard keyblade or starting weapon for the main character.

I don't think it would be wise to start with because of the stats and would just be Over Kill. However it is one of my all time favorite Keyblades. The sound of it really gets to me. I love the sound of the Oathkeeper and the design of it it has such elegance to it. But again going back to the basic keyblade, the start of the game the Kingdom Key is a good starter no matter how much it pains me to say it. I'm really not a fan of that keyblade.

Unless I'm doing one of those try to beat a boss with the weakest weapon type of thing then ok, but actual in KH2 with ARM the weakest Keyblade is the Detection Saber.

Still as a starting weapon the Kingdom Key is a perfect starting weapon.

If you played BBS you Know that Kingdom Key is a MUST KEEP keyblade for ever.
And is not a basic keyblade, that everybody have is a Keyblade that "Ventus actived, and thus allowed everybody that had conection to his heart to use it".
Look at the draw of the χ-blade:
Before BBs no one had a Kingdom Key.. the other keys lacked it's secret power, the power that links it with Kingdom Hearts. As we know by now the χ-blade is the Key that has the power to sumon Kingdom Hearts, and is different from other keyblades, being the only one that is both light and Dark, also is the only keyblade with power equal to Kingdom Hearts (power of creation and destruction).
When Ventus fought Vanitas the χ-blade was born, but by defeating Vanitas his heart was slipt, the key blade also slipt in two.. the (light)Kingdom Key remained at Ventus Body/Heart that is why it appears in Ventus hand.. that's why Sora has it (as he accepted Ventus heart), as Sora wasn't meant to have the Keyblade he uses the Keyblade that Ventus provided him with, by the end of KH 1 Sora had earned the Keyblade and became a true keyblade wielder:
"In your hand, take this Key. So long as you have the makings, then through this simple act of taking, its wielder you shall one day be. And you will find me, friend—no ocean will contain you then. No more borders around, or below, or above, so long as you champion the ones you love."

With that said we come to Mickey, he already had a Keyblade the Star Seeker Keyblade... if he already had a Keyblade why did he go to the realm of Darkness to look for the Dark Kingdom Key? Because it is the other side of the Kingdom Key, they together (and only these two) have the power of the χ-blade, and because they had that power combined they could close kingdom hearts at KH 1, if Sora loses the Kingdom Key he will not be able to close kingdom hearts in the future.

Oathkeeper is definitely Sora's standard weapon. If you notice, Terra and Aqua's Keyblades get a second form in Earthshaker and Stormfall. Sora doesn't since Kingdom Key is the one TRUE Keyblade, signifying that he was the first Keyblade Weilder in his generation. Riku and Kairi get different Keyblades because they weren't as significant as Sora until much later.

That said, if Oathkeeper was Sora's standard weapon, like Rainfell (Aqua) or Ends of the Earth (Terra), it would get a second form, like Aqua and Terra's did.

    Uh...
I feel like I'm missing something here.
Do you think Oathkeeper is Sora's standard weapon, or not?

It's as standard to Sora as Rainfell is to Aqua and Ends of the Earth is to Terra, just to strong to be the starting weapon.

Is it, though? Sure they showed Sora using it in the intro of DDD, but it doesn't really share any relation to the evolutions that Terra and Aqua recieve (which seem to be more related to their keyblade mastery than what is the case with Sora, namely that Oathkeeper is the result of using Kairi's good luck charm as a key chain)

It symbolizes the promise he made to Kairi, hence the name "Oathkeeper". Kingdom Key is more of a plot-device to open or close Kingdom Hearts.

It does more than that. It represents Sora by way of its simplicity and the way it's built around defense.
