Last Friday I was with my friends eating my lunch-and at this time I was wearing black fingerless gloves and a black and gray "checker" beanie and then a teacher comes over and says (His exact words) *See you with you big Emo hat" and then he walked off leaving 1st 2nd and 3rd years to laugh at me (even though Emos are cool-they are unpopular in my school) and on my way to class people where still laughing at me and yes I was hit with the odd paper airplane....

Today I told my mum and she says she is going to cause a total uproar-she wants a written apology and if its just "Im sorry" than she will get him done for-Slander,Stereotyping and Discrimination and Properly Racism (The teacher is black-im white...) then he will lose his job...(im not complaining)

and what I wanna know do you agree with my mum for fighting against Slander,Stereotyping and Discrimination or do you think "But he only commented on his hat-its not like he start laughing"

Oh and dont start saying im Racist because im most certainly not...

If a teacher said that at my school, he would probably be joking, and the student he said it to would be laughing along with him. But I don't know how this would be taken at your school. The students sound pretty immature (as high school students are, but you'd think they'd know when to shut up).

If you felt insulted by it, by all means let it be known. I'm not sure something like this should cost the teacher his job, though. My guess would be that he was just trying to be funny, but I wasn't there so I wouldn't know.

I don't see the racist angle in the case. He didn't single you out or say anything offensive because of your race. I wouldn't even attempt to bark up that tree because it's a clear stretch and likely won't work. If anything he should get in trouble for the words but not lose his job.

My only question, does the teacher normal joke with their students in that form? I mean I've had teachers that would poke fun at students all in good fun. For the most part it was students who were tough enough to give comebacks or were on that good terms as a sign of friendship.

He made the comment based on what you were wearing, not your race. He was probably making an attempt to "fit in" with the other kids and didn't think about your feelings- even teachers make mistakes.

    Don't take it too harshly.

Just because you're white and you're teacher is black is no reason to call racist when it isn't even about race. Sure, your teacher shouldn't have said anything and it was a bit uncalled for, he was only talking about what you were wearing. Not your race.
And although it's hard you shouldn't care what people think, it's you and they can't change that. And I bet you could pick random flaws that they have to make fun of them for if you wanted to. Not saying you should.
To be honest, I've dealt with teachers doing worse things to me and I didn't get even an apology, so I doubt you'll get anything. Especially for all the stuff your mom is telling your teacher to apologize for that hardly has anything to do with the situation. And as for him losing his job over that, highly doubtful. Really really doubtful.

Racism? Dear god, what are you and your mom thinking, seriously?
He was probably joking with you; my teachers do it all the time. If you laugh with them, and people see that you aren't paticularly bothered, a humiliating reaction from your peers probably wouldn't happen.
As for the racism, was he insulting your skin colour/race? No. Why get skin colour involved then? It makes you look like a total idiot for even crossing those lines.

He won't lose his job. Don't get your hopes up.

I found it insulting-as did the rest of the people in my school who are "alternative"...nobody what is "alternative" seems to like him anyway and I never bad mouthed him when he gave us a ridiculously large amount of homework unlike other people in my year who where saying the most racist things ive ever heard id just say stuff like "Oh Well"-ive never did ANYTHING to offend him-why didnt he say anything to the person with a old ripped uniform or the kid with ridiculously large feet or the one with ginger hair? (just examples-dont get offended and stuff)

Oh-the racism thing,....well my mum is very good at examining a situation cuz she is the secretary of a local politician.....dont mention the racism part again plz-its off topic....

and I know he most certainly wasn't just making fun or joking because the way he said it o_O and he NEVER says anything like that to anybody....

He knows how the school majority feels about Emos and its not pretty!!!

and he might lose his job because my principle is trying to make as much cutbacks as possible and that teacher teaches English but he only teaches nouns and stuff whereas my other English teacher teaches the structure of a story and stuff...

In my opinion, this has nothing to do with racism....it more has to do with stereotypical laughter.
These people at your school are simply trying to get a rise out of you, and I would suggest telling your mom not to get too over-worked about it.
Simply ignore them, and if it gets out of hand...THEN you can get your mom to interfere.

This, in itself, is quite stereotypical. So if somebody in your school is alternative, they automatically dislike him? I doubt that's true.

Because wearing a simple hat is something you can change. That is not personal, is it is merely a clothing preference that can be altered.
Referring to your examples, having an old ripped uniform may be of some indication that the wealth of their family is suffering, or something along those lines. Therefore, they cannot help it, and would be more than offended if such a thing was pointed out.
Ridiculously large feet and ginger hair? Again, this is something they cannot change (unless you say hair dye, but still, let's not go into technicalities) so again, those are very personal things. Unlike just a hat.

May I refer back to your original post for a moment?
Okay. Just because your mom is a secretary of a politician does not mean she can claim a racist insult where she thinks necessary, and have it automatically approved. What he did was not racist.
Also, this is not going off topic, as you mentioned it in your first post here.

Explain how he said it, please?

He is not allowed to just fire a teacher for something like this. A true reason must be written down formally, and approved by higher governors. If anything, he will simply be reprimanded by a higher positioned staff member.

What type of school must you go to when one teacher educates a class purely on nouns? This would not be allowed in school curriculum, and to be honest, I think there is more dramatisation than truth in this.

    kdone.

I wouldn't make a big deal out of it myself. Obviously if the teacher said the comment in order to get people to laugh at you then I think he should apologize informally (as in don't bring it up to authorities and what not). Bringing the discrimination/racism into it...its really not that big of a problem and would only cause bigger unneeded ones.

It is true surprisingly (that excludes the 5th and 6th years cuz they are more mature)

okay-scratch that-what about the guy wearing the sparkly pink Hannah Montana scarf who genuinely thinks it looks cool?

plz-Im pretty sure mum was joking when she said it-plz I dont mean for it to be a big deal!

Explain how he said it, please?

He said "Emo" in a big over exaggerated voice as if it was majorly important

He is not allowed to just fire a teacher for something like this. A true reason must be written down formally, and approved by higher governors. If anything, he will simply be reprimanded by a higher positioned staff member.

I do agree-The vice principle had talked to me today (ill explain later) and he said he will have a serious talk with him

What type of school must you go to when one teacher educates a class purely on nouns? This would not be allowed in school curriculum, and to be honest, I think there is more dramatisation than truth in this.

OMG O_o I said nouns and stuff-"So far he has slowly reintroduced us to classification of words that we had learned earlier in our school years-but his classes have proved unsuccessful in teaching us anything due to the fact we have already learned it and masted it in younger years" is what i should have said and what i mean...

anyway-the Vice Princeible called me into his office-He asked me about Emos and asked me about self harm-he then told me how the cultures differentiate (Im Irish-He's American) so someone American would have reacted differently (I dont really agree He and I value the fact that different cultures are needed in a community such as a High School...and he said he will talk to him after the Christmas break...
