I just went to the bank and while I was going through the ATM drive-through there was this guy, whose car had apparently broken down in the parking lot, that was wandering around the drive-through area and was slowly making his way toward me. I thought for sure he was going to kill me. He was going to take my money, and then he was going to kill me. As I started to pull away he stopped me (at this point I was mentally preparing to die) and asked me if I had a phone that he could use. I said no and sped away. Did I have a phone? Yes. Did I have a phone he could use? No. So I drove away rejoicing that I survived.

Okay, it's not that I'm not willing to help someone in need, but I'm not going to let this random suspicious looking guy use my phone. As soon as I reach out of the car he could somehow steal the car or kill me, or do whatever else. NOT TO MENTION THAT WE ARE IN A CITY, HE COULD HAVE WALKED TO THE TARGET THAT IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE BANK AND ASK TO USE A PHONE THERE if he really needed help. If I was in a position like that I would never ask to use some random persons phone. I would walk across the street to any of the numerous stores that there are here and ask for help there. I would not want to put someone in that situation. Part of me feels really bad for just leaving him there with no help, but there is no reason he can't walk to a store or restaurant or something and ask to use a phone there. If he really needed help he shouldn't be asking people going through the drive-through at a bank.

    Do yours not?

I mean, I guess it is a little weird but I've never known a bank to not have at least one.

I've never heard of a bank that DOES have them, so I'm a bit confused.

It's for the same reason that some fast-food places have them, to save time.

You don't live in the US, right? That's probably why. I've never seen a bank that doesn't have one over here.

I use the drive-through at banks because I'm too afraid of human contact. It's basically just an ATM.

I tend to be a little too trusting in these types of situations. You could've said "hey I think Target would let you use their phone, why not ask in there?"
