They were supposed to send PM's to the people who would not be considered for staff, which I can personally say they did not, poor show KHV staff, poor show indeed.

Is there going to be a news announcement when it's all done?

This is an unfortunate trend in the Staff applications, no one knows what's happening until all of a sudden, tada, only the successful people know. This happened last time too. Someone should've been appointed to send off the rejection letters, a sign of courtesy to the members who took the time to apply.
I know Cat and a number of others never got to the interview stage but they were never even told about it. It's distressing to not know, and I really felt sorry for Cat when I got an interview and she still hadn't been told.

Misty is still supposed to send out the rejection letters you know, it's just going to happen after the candidates have been hired.
And there's an actual reason for it being like that. We didn't want to send them out as soon as we knew who we were going to interview in the off-chance that those who we do interview end up disappointing us. If they did disappoint us, we'd approach some other people we did consider. How awkward would it be to have been rejected and then two weeks later you get a PM saying "Oh sorry nevermind, we want to interview you now."
I mean yeah, we're sorry for it taking so long, but most of us don't have that much free time. It's just volunteer work, nothing to get distressed about.

As for the announcement thing, I can't speak for the admins, but there might be an official "Applications are closed, new people have been hired" announcement I guess.

I know it's volunteer, and actually with exams for everyone left right and centre, this probably wasn't the best time to do applications but oh well.

Ok that's more understandable, but I thought it would've been everyone is interviewed that had any chance and that'd be it. Instead of going down a list from best to worst applicants, it would mean each bed person interviewed is 'less' able then the previous one so why would they have been more eligible then the las person you interviewed.

Anyway, it's just the lack of knowing and all of a sudden people have been made into sec mods and reporters without anyone knowing about it except those that got it and the Staff, without any announcement. It's what makes me confused about exactly what's going on.

I guess that explains a little bit. I can see where you're coming from this, but yeah, that "Applications are closed, new people have been hired" might not be that bad of an idea. It would at least let people know something has been going on, and then we won't end up waiting months wondering what happened.

Trust me when I say that we don't have a list that goes from best to worst, or anything of the sort. Every candidate was qualified in their own way :v But it's just that we interviewed people who staff agreed on, or members we were impressed by. The difference between this round of applications and the last ones we had is that this time we're not hiring out of necessity, but because we feel like we need more helping hands to finish projects faster and such.
But yeah, I do see where you're coming from. It is unfair I know, but it's not like this is the first time that this happens >_> It's not a totally perfect system though, yeah.

Indeed. We will take these into consideration though. It's too late for this round, but we'll be sure to let people know earlier next time.

That's the thig, I thought that this imperfect system would have at less been improved upon this time around, seeing as this constantly happens and with a few more steps taken in could be resolved easily enough. But maybe that's just me, I could maybe assist the system if I ever have the opportunity.

And I understand that considering people for staff is subjective, though you likely try to assess candidates on their merits and not just because of friendly circumstances. I would'nt have this meritocracy any other way.

Actually, it wasn't a bad time to do applications but this time around we had an overwhelming number of applicants and it took a while to narrow it down. Please, I'm glad people bared with us during all of this but we honestly had a lot to go through.

However from hiring, we also try to improve on how to make thing move a bit faster, we aren't perfect at this. Plus, things can happen here and there that throw people off. we do look at merits as a part of being acceptable in staff, we don't hire off of friendliness.

But wouldn't friendliness be a merit in itself according to most people? One of the more important ones, in fact, people will not vote for someone they dislike because if you dislike them then you think they lack merit as a person. You don't see merit in people you dislike, that is why you dislike them. It goes hand in hand.

Are the rejection letters going to be personalized? "You didn't get an interview because _____________" or just "We regret to inform you that you suck, have a nice day"?

Now let me tell you one thing, staff. You all SUCK! I've been waiting for, what's it been, a two months now? And you didn't even have common courtesy of sending me a PM telling me that I suck! Day in and day out I've been waiting for the interview, but not a single sound was heard from you guys. That is inhumane behaviour and you are all horrible people. KHV is my LIFE, do you not understand this? It is literally what I live for, and one day I plan on marrying KHV. Let me just tell you this, if one of you ever apply to one my staff positions on KHV, then you will NEVER get the position or even an interview. Nor will you ever get a notice from anyone. You guys just ruined my day- No, scratch that, you guys just ruined my LIFE.

I think she means that they aren't hired just because the Staff are good buddies with said member. They are not biased towards anyone who applies, in such a way that if someone who got on well with the staff but not the rest of the forum they wouldn't hire just on the fact they are friendly towards them. Which is a fairer and better means of conducting such a thing, it means less abuse of power and the such, which i'm sure the staff are vigilant against from some staff members in the past.

Yeah, I get all that, and I was saying that you hire according to merit, and not just personal preference. Which I agree with, so i'm not hating just saying.

And what if I just want to Sin?

I realize Sabby answered this already, but as all the others mentioned, we do take people into consideration. However, it was also a really long process just choosing people and giving inputs. There have been major improvements in the process, which don't particularly reflect on the members due to the internal and private nature of it all.

I'm not going to make a list, but among the changes was a new method of applying (the pretty application forms). We also had some modifications in how we organized the candidates. A new position was opened (translators), and other small improvements which are not very up-front and visible to non-staff members. You have to believe us when we try to respect candidates. We read through most applications and give detailed input on each and every one in most cases.

So what we ask is that members bear with us. It's a hard and tiring process that took more than we'd thought it would. This so called imperfect system is more or less inherited from past staff and we've been slowly changing our work methods; improving. So most issues we find, we try to fix. But we have to see them to actually know. We are not omniscient (as far as I've been informed lol ;3) but it does make us feel bad when we try and still come up short in some regard. So personally (and I guess from the rest of staff too) we ask for a bit of patience and understanding.

Sound feedback is always appreciated and welcome. We encourage you to send us feedback through private message, the suggestions forum or any other means you may find. So thank you ;3
