And now guess which song is going to be stuck in my head for the next 2 weeks? Good thing it's an awesome song.

Can't decide if I like the demi lovato version or the Idina Menzel one better...tough call. One sounds more natural, while the other is upped by layers of music...tough call

Ummmm, no, the other big hit song.

Speaking of, i actually just pulled up another tab on youtube to watch that song, just because i love the ending where Kristoff is just like...well, you know. I don't know who hasn't seen the film, so I can't say anything

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD

I like both songs differently. Idina's version is a song that you just wanna sing at the top of your lungs. Demi's you want to sing too...but its more of a poppy version.

The whole movie was amazingly well done. I was so impressed.

I ended up just downloading both. You can't not like both of them.

Hey, don't judge the singer, judge the song. And at that point, this song is awesome, so be quiet you.

Now no one said you couldn't judge the singer for other stuff, but leave this song out of it

Well apparently they are both loved as much as the other, so oh well, you can have your opinion on one while everyone else can enjoy both versions

I know. There's light a tug-of-war going on in my gut right now trying to decide which to listen to. Right now I'm repeating the Idina version after doing the Demi for a while, but I'll have to switch back soon again

I'm coming to conclusion that Idina's version is so magical. I think I like it better.

    Menzel > Lovato

    Every. Damn. Day.

One's natural, emotional, with little tweaking. The other, while still preserving the lyrics and overall theme, conveys both a lot less effectively to me. Also, I'm just not a fan of pop-sounding music in general usually.

Maybe because it played with magic in the film? :P

But yeah, like I said, it sounds more natural, so it does have a nicer feel to it. But I do still like the other version for it's own reasons. It's like how there's 2 version of 1000 Words in FFX, or Simple and Clean in Kingdom Hearts. Both are nice in their own ways

    Exactly!!

I was lucky enough to sneak the soundtrack off iTunes when it was at a reduced price. Wonderful it is!

I honestly can't stand Lavato's cover of the song.

Let it Go is a song written with a number of layers in mind. It's from the point of view of someone who has lived in the darkness, seculuded from everyone, and has a chance at freedom. It's empowing, but it's also sad. A person has to hit a certain emotional depth for it to work.

Menzel is a Broadway actress; she knows how to do these kinds of things as instinct. It also helps that she plays the character, and have all the background that goes into it.

Lavato's has no passion in it whatsoever. She can hit the notes, but there is no feeling in the song. It feels very bland, and there is no emotion put into the song whatsoever. It is just turned into some random pop song that will become forgettable, which is not what this song should become.

I always use this example when discussing this stuff: "I Dreamed a Dream". I've heard a number of covers of this song, and even some of the professional stuff. When it is sung beautifully, it is really well done. They hit the notes just right. But my absolute favorite version of the song is Anne Hathaway's version. She did not go for pretty in the movie. She went for the emotion of the song, and it hits home a lot deeper than any other version of the song I've heard.
