How do I make it look somewhat "professional" like you guy's?

I don't have Rainmeter, but I'm willing to bet that they installed custom skins or something?

deviantART often has stuff for that. Where I found my custom Desktop theme at least.

    It is.

dA is confusing me now! It says they have lots of skins for Rainmeter, yet I should not download them because they are broken or something.

Rainmeter is beauty. Show me the DA you're looking at? For me, once I installed Rainmeter, I knew exactly what I wanted. A clock. I went to DeviantArt and looked it up. Results, hooray. Downloaded what I wanted, didn't see any sort of warning...And then I installed it pretty easily.

I just had to double click on it and it pretty much did it itself. I did have to go in and unload some of the stuff I didn't want, but that how-to should be kind of obvious once the dialogue pops up. Just look around.

I've been trying to get the task bar to look like the one in the first post

    But I can't for some reason .___.

I just got various skins and themes from DA and mixed and matched what looked good until I got something that I liked. At the moment I'm using skins from the themes Auger, Elegance2, and Elementary together to get this. I also used a Visual Style to change how Windows looks(like the taskbar for example) but that's unrelated to Rainmeter.

First I've heard of this thing. It's some sort of customizable desktop?

Is that what you're using? I saw your post in the desktop thread. I was wondering how you got yours to be like that. Now that I have this Rainmeter thing I'm checking out dA. Apparently I shouldn't download anything with the comments disabled.

No, I am using something similar for Linux which was probably the inspiration for Rainmeter called Conky.

Really all I use mine for is a clock (which is dead simple) and the weather. I've never had any problems with downloading stuff for it from dA, so yeah.

Ok, I'm gonna sound really stupid saying this, I'm sure, but what is Rainmeter? From looking on google it's something to let you fully customize your desktop and stuff? But are some good things to having it? Because I think it would be cool to customize my desktop

    According to Google...

I'm sure there's more to it, but all I use Rainmeter for is a clock. For example ... This is my desktop. Dat clock right there is a Rainmeter skin/app thing. You can add more, if you want. There are really cool gadgets and such. It doesn't just have to be a clock. There are things like a 'currently playing' one, and some just show your computer stats like your battery power and CPU. There are weather ones.

It depends on what you want? I wanted a clock because I wanted to hide some stuff on my taskbar (like the clock). I'm planning on finding some more stat stuff so I can hide my sound icon and wireless signal.

I just like it because it's pretty. Makes things look more professional, I think. You don't really need it. It's just cool.

I would get it if I ever went on Windows anymore. Another awesome application is Rocketdock. It only works on 32-bit systems, though.
