So for those of you familiar with the Leidenfrost Effect...

    ...and ignoring the fact that fire consumes oxygen...
    Could a person that is able to ignite themself be able to breathe if they were to walk underwater and use Leidenfrost to form an air bubble around them?

    No. Even if the bubble was large enough to produce enough volume for someone to inhale(unlikely but not impossible), they'd just be breathing in water vapor. So they would just drown in a cool(anti-pun?) fashion.

    A way it could work is by combining the Leidenfrost Effect with water splitting. Water vapor can be broken down with electricity into Hydrogen and Oxygen gas. More or less this results in Hydrox, something used in deep-water breathing gear to deal with compression. Of course, water splitting eats up a lot of electrical power and we'd be assuming it results in enough oxygen for someone to live off of...otherwise you'd still die from asphyxiation. Hydrogen isn't poisonous but you can't breathe pure Hydrogen because it offers nothing good for your body. Might as well not be breathing at all.
