I'd better get back to the subs so I can continue to feel even more superior to those who are only going to watch the dub.

Oh great, I already hear enough anime openings on saturday nights from my brothers' room. Now I have to hear one that will actually get stuck in my head for a couple of days everytime I hear it.

From the clips Funi's released of the dub so far, it actually sounds pretty nice. I haven't heard Eren's or Levi's voices yet, but the others sounded good.

I'm actually excited for it. The main three are a bunch of mid-tier voice actors (not FUNis usual suspects for main leads). The only one of the main character voice actors that has some recognition is the one for Eren, who also played Kirito in the Sword Art Online dub. He was decent enough in that, but I also found out that he did ADR (basically doing the voice overs for him) for Asa Butterfield in Ender's Game, which was really good. So, I'm hopeful.

Plus, Attack on Titan seems like one of those shows that would really fit an English dub. It definitely has a Western aesthetic about it, and the story isn't one that's typically seen in Eastern culture.I mean, Titans come from early European civilizations after all. So, with the western feel, an English voice cast may seem more fitting (see Fullmetal Alchemist, Romeo x Juliet)

Hey, at least I'm being honest about it this time. I generally watch more dubs than subs anyway. I'm only watching the SnK/AoT/AotG/GZA subs for the novelty of feeling like I'm better than the people who didn't watch the subs. Besides, I've already caught up with the manga which I do genuinely feel is better than the anime.
Hey, most people don't know it as Attack of the Giants, and I don't have Japanese characters on my keyboard so I can't use the real name anyway. I suppose I could just keep calling it The Giant Zombie Anime, but that just feels insulting to everybody who likes it.

I would personally say that Levi's dubbed voice is not very fitting. It wasn't awful, just out of character imo. He's just too short for the voice they gave him.

Time for more people to hype the hell out of it and call it the best anime in years.

I mean, it's pretty good, with some tense-as-hell situations and great action scenes, but the pacing gets terribad at points and the characters aren't really that interesting.

If it isn't then that would be lame cause Attack on Titan is an awesome name for a show.

And now I wonder if any Kuroshitsuji fans get mad about the series being called Black Butler.

At the very least, the pacing is a tiny bit better than in the manga. The manga had way too many flashbacks that should have just been their own chapters.

As for the characters, they are way too bland, even in the manga. The anime did a pretty good job of carrying them over, but of all things, they somehow managed to ruin Mikasa. It's small and petty and I know it's a detail that I should even care about, but every time Mikasa blushes due to anything involving Eren I hate it because it gives the BS implication that she's just a girl with a crush while the manga is always very clear that she strictly sees Eren as family and absolutely nothing more.

My only other major problem is that the anime is too pretty. The manga's (admittedly ugly) art style just feels like it fits the mood better.

Overall, it's one of the best adaptations I've seen of anything, especially recently. It takes the source material and puts it to motion without doing much of anything else to it. It even switches certain things around (like those damn flashback chapters) so they make more sense. That said, it's not particularly notable in any other way.[DOUBLEPOST=1397363362][/DOUBLEPOST]
I'm not even a fan of it and I get mad because I thought for years that they were totally different things.

Really? Because I got a totally different vibe. I caught on early that Mikasa was a bit of mentor character for Eren. She keeps him grounded, and because of what happened in their past, she feels that she has to protect him, like she's repaying a debt. I mean, I understand why that would be upsetting as making her up as if she's in love with Eren, but I don't think that really hurts the character.

It could also be that we're too conditioned to look for romance in those kinds of situations. Like, take Ender's Game for example. They didn't have any kind of romance in it; sure, it was vaguely hinted at, but Ender didn't develop a relationship with Petra. And a bunch of people pointed it out, both for and against it, because it wasn't what we expect to see in stories like this.

And I actually saw a video awhile back from an anime critic who went deep into the three main characters. It discussed what attributes it represents, and how they relate to the walls surrounding the society as well as the three different armies. I'm not saying the show is a masterpiece; it's a lot better than a lot of shonen out there today, but it still suffers because it sticks to those cliches. The character, for me, were the best part of it and deserve much more credit than what is usually given.

No need to get detailed on the matter, popular anime + tv deal = big win for Toonami...

Attack of the Giants sounds like a children's book
Attack on Titan sounds like you're trying to attack something mythical in proportions, and sounds cooler

Why are you under the impression that the Spam Zone means anything at all
