Okay, this might be really stupid but I'm having trouble with this sum; Diane's Journey To Work is 4 and 1/2K Km, How far is 2/3 of this journey? So I did a few different sums and got these; 1. 4 and 1/2 = 9/2. 9/2 X 2/3 = 18/6. 18/6 = 3/1. 2. 4 and 1/2 = 9/2. 9/2 Divided by 2/3 = 9/2 X 3/2 = 18/4. 18/4 = 4 and 2/4. 4 2/4 = 4 1/2 And I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I'm fairly sure that Number 1 is wrong but then number 2. Just leads me back to 4 1/2. Can anyone help me?
Like they said, you were right the first time. The error in your second attempt that got you the same answer is here. "9/2 X 3/2 = 18/4" 9 X 3 = 27 not 18 so you should have had 27/4 = 6 3/4. From there just run the dummy check on your answer. If you are running and make it 2/3 of the way, you covered less of the distance than you wanted. So with 6 3/4 being larger than the original 4 1/2 you know this can't be right. Now if only I was working on my math instead of yours...
