So, I've become a bit curious, has anyone here tried Slender: The Arrival yet? I'm trying to decide if it would be worth my time and money to get it.
Time, kinda. Money, no. It's a lot better in regards to graphics and atmosphere than the older slender games, but it's a pretty quick play so it's not really worth it. I mean I watched some youtubers play it and that was good enough for me.
That's what gives the game it's atmosphere though, the lack of plot. You are given the task to find 8 pages, each with creepy messages on them, with each page, the music grows louder, more urgent, giving the game pretty good atmosphere for a short game.
Ehh in my opinion, it's not really worth getting. If you're REALLY interested in the story, I suggest watching it rather than playing it. It's better than the old Slender games, but still not enough to spend your money/time on it.
No plot=/=atmosphere. Honestly, the new game is superior to the original in every way. Especially since the three guys(Troy, Joseph, and Tim) responsible for Marble Hornets helped work on Slender: The Arrival. Obviously the original was inspired by Marble Hornets and it's great that for the new game those three got some input. There's even a sort of secret level thing in the new game that's amazingly brutal. The only downsides are the cheap deaths to be had and the fact that it's still pretty short.
More plot obviously opens up to more atmosphere, but Slender made use of no plot, this game probably has more atmosphere because of the plot, but atmosphere doesn't need plot, better atmosphere does, but plot is not a necessity.
So, this actually has a trailer. Uhh. Wow. Legit looks kinda spooky. Never played The Eight Pages but I might have to give this a shot.
Having watched some full playthroughs of Arrival, it's a much creepier, well-done game than the original in every aspect. The biggest downside to it is how it's just so short, like the last two levels should have come a lot later, with more build up to them. I definitely look forward to more games from Parsec, cause of how well done Arrival is.
