I had developed sleeping problems at the beginning of the year and I feel like it's progressively getting worse. I always wake up tired in the morning, or afternoon, and feel like I hadn't even gone to sleep in the first place. I always feel weak and like a zobie throughout the day. I hardly have enough energy to get up or even talk in the mornings. Last night I couldn't go to sleep at about 2am. I haven't told anyone but friends about my problem and I need some help with what to do. I absolutely will not take meds to help me sleep so that isn't an option.

Well... I know that you said you don't like taking meds to sleep, but maybe your sleep problems is something else. Lack of energy, and trouble sleeping are small symptoms and signs that you probably have a low thyroid. It's an immune system that sits in your throat, and if its low, then you don't feel like doing much, but you can't sleep either. Those were my symptoms anyways.

Maybe ask if you can go get yourself checked out at the doc. Maybe it's not low thyroid, but it would be good to check it out. >>

You could try seeing the doc like Friendly Heartless said, just to make sure it really isn't your thyroid.

Until then, try these out to see if they help you any:

*Don't do anything mentally stimulating before going to bed. Reading, writing, using the computer all make you focus mentally, which halts your brain from "shutting down" for the night. This might sound funny but try watching a boring TV show instead. You won't be able to focus for long, and you'll be sleepy soon enough.
*Try light exercise, like stretching, before going to bed. This always helped me when I had trouble.

I had something like that once, it was called glandular fever, it can pit you off food, make you very tired and if you get hit hard enough in the belly you can damage your internal organs (this suggests not going for contact sports)
