I saw this movie today, and it was pretty good. It seemed to be balancing a lot of things, mental illness, heartbreak, and putting trust in the world, but they seemed to pull it off quite well. It did seem to move a bit slow at times, but there always seemed to be something going on. What really made it work was all the dark comedy in the film and not shying away from much if the darker subject matter. I will say that a lot of the movie plays on coincidences to forward the plot, so some of it doesn't feel organic.

I like seeing Bradley Cooper break away from his comedic roles to show how great of an actor he is. He was very emotionally vulnerable throughout the film, which really made you sympathize with him.

And Jennifer Lawance has proven with this film that she is a very talented and open actress (never saw Winter's Bone and wasn't impressed with Hunger Games). She has to portray a whole range of emotions with her characters and made it all believable. There may be a possible Oscar nomination for her with this character, which she does deserve.
