No I don't think they should. Because like in my opinion animals are just like humans so that would be like asking should some humans be illegal in the U.S. So no I don't think so.

A little vague...uh I dunno, I suppose it depends on what animal it is. I mean if we're talking about dogs then no, but other animals.....depends.

It should be illegal to sell any animal without informing the buyer of possible risks. This should be the case for poisonous animals such as the emperor scorpion. Even though its sting is not deadly unless you're allergic, you as a possible new owner of the beastie should still be informed of its potency.
It should also be illegal to own an endangered animal.
So yeah...I can see why ownership of an animal is prohibited sometimes.

Any animal that is on any endangered or threatened species list should not be allowed to be kept as pets, simply because it would feed poachers who trap them, sometimes killing some before they get one. Also, some animals, if they escaped, might cause ecologic harm. Look at when pigs were introduced to several islands in the Pacific, around the time of the British Empire - they're STILL cleaning up those messes. Or Kudzu in North Carolina - a vine that now drapes itself over almost everything in the town of Gastonia, where I live, except areas where they have taken a great deal of effort to eradicate it. It was brought in to solve some other ecologic problem (I forget which). And what about the rats that brought the Black Plague to Europe? Certain animals, if they are improperly released, escape, or improperly regulated can cause massive harm to an ecosystem.

We need to be EXTREMELY careful about what is introduced to the population and ecology of America.

It IS illegal to have endangered species as a pet in some states...not sure about all, (I'm not that law binding.) I agree, some will ruin the already existing ecosystems like some did in the past or are doing currently. I just think the threatened ones should go to approved owners if they won't change anything.

nope i respect all life and it's habitats so i think we should just leave them alone and let them flourish on this planet just as we do.

exactly. we treat other humans with respect we should treat the area we live in with the same feelings instead slaying them like savages.

Ok, but the issue here is that some animals should not be brought into the US in the first place. None of what either of you said addressed that. Sure, OK Replicloud, just leave the animals alone. If we had done that, there would be no pet cats or dogs, and no cattle farms, no horses for human use, no meat animals of any kind, etc etc. However, some animals are, IMO, too dangerous to be brought into the country, specifically, animals that will either kill lots of people or animals that will disrupt the ecosystem.

Sorry to seem snippy, but I do feel that those posts were too short to convey anything meaningful, and, I feel, you did not address the subject at all.

ok, 1. Its alright that you are snippy, because this is the debate corner and i like to debate, 2. Yes we are debating, and discussing the topic, maybe it is just a little too subtle for you but there is a convesation going on between us about the topic on hand, 3. You might be the kind of person who listens to details and likes to talk with a lot of information, but this is a conversation that is informative and opinionated for this thread........

Maybe if they're poisonous or harmful they should be illegal... seeing how it might escape and hurt other people. Like the snakes that are full of poison, or ones that have aggressive behavior... You mean animals being illegal as pets, right? O.o
