i just wanted to know people's opinions on this because i've seen people say they're more correct because they have more rep <-- my opinion is that people shouldnt dislike someone for their amount of rep because they can still be new or they can still be wrong if they have like 15 rep its just they explain their theories better.

For me the amount of rep they have doesn't matter. I never really payed attention to that.

Rep doesn't matter in posts. Some people have high rep not because of how good their posts are, but because they have many friends who give them rep for no reason. Just because you have more rep, doesn't mean you're right. It just means you're popular. That's all rep is, your popularity. All it's used for is getting Premium, that's it. Other than that, it's just something to show off.

Rep has never been a factor in judging someone's post for me. It is the content of the post that matters, that's all.

Besides, rep really doesn't mean anything anymore, it used to, but it lost it's meaning over a year ago now. I still remember when having a second gem was practically unheard of xD

So no, rep shouldn't be a factor in judging someone's posts.

IMO, rep is only good for pleasing other people (if you have a lot) and for getting premium. Other than that, it doesn't really matter. I mean, think about all the people who get repped for things they say in the Spam Zone - mostly something really funny or for really owning someone else. Nothing that would relate to their validity in other sections (not naming any names). Also, think about people who regularly check the SE websites, or are members of other forums, or check other forums, but haven't been posting here very long. Low rep, yet good ideas.

I don't really care about rep. So no, it doesn't affect my opinions of the members here. It has indeed lost most of its meaning.

No. Rep is a system that lets people know how much they have established that they like someone else. Using it to judge posts is just weird.

Not to mention people who just spread rep so they can rep someone again.

It doesn't affect trustworthiness at all.

It's nothing but a tool to make little kids feel important on this site, but all they do is whore the button.

Well, I know several people on this website giving out random reps. XD They would usually call it a game so I just tag along and also Rep people randomly. ^^ But mostly people I know get repped from me. X3 *purrs*

But kinda. It does affect trustworthiness, post, and theory. Or it could be just a coincidence to rep that post for a random reason.

    Doesn't matter either.

The content of the person's posts matter. Nothing else.

Their rep means nothing, except people liking some of their posts. Just because they have tons of rep, doesn't mean they're right or smarter. In fact, as Jerome said, a lot of the people with rep are idiots. Such as myself.

Nothing new really to say here... besides the fact that rep is often whored out, it also can mean that a member has been around for a long time.

of course not, there are plenty of people who are idiots with loads of rep. it means nothing. sure it might be nice to have but it does NOT represent trustworthiness or intelligence whatsoever.
