So I just got into watching and finishing Avatar both The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra and I really enjoyed the story of both (Yea I'm late and stuff. Sue me -_-). It inspired me to create an RP of the Anime series with OCs, but will have connections to the main characters in the Avatar series. This RP will take 100 years after the events of "The Legend of Korra" and anything after this is completely original and not related to the plot of Avatar. So if you did not watch the Avatar series, I suggest you avoid this RP as it will contain spoilers and you may be confused on this shmazz and whatnots :p

The Story so Far...​

170 years ago, Avatar Aang and his friends took down the corrupt Fire Lord Sozin and restored balance to the Fire Nation. The United Republic of Nations was created between the 4 element nations after the end of the war. They created Republic City, a state created by the URN that holds people from all over the land of different nations. The new Avatar, Korra, helped Republic City after fighting with Amon and the Equalists.​

In the next 100 years, Korra and her friends helped rebuild the city after the damage Amon caused to the city. The threat was not over, however. During the 100 years, a new type of bending was somehow formed by expert benders. A type of bending that seemed to manipulate the shadows, darkness, and even the negativity in the minds of humans. It was agreed that this bending was not to be ever shown into public and/or used on others. One didn't agree. Waterbending expert Gyroe hid away from civilization and studied on how the bending worked. It was channeled through negative emotions and feelings. He then decided to create a nation who agreed on his ways and those who admired the new bending. He named it "Shadowbending". He wanted to change the world with the new bending. He and his "nation" started to capture and start coups in different cities. He eventually attacked Republic City, but was defeated by Avatar Korra and had his Shadowbending taken away. The problem was that the new bending transferred to the Avatar and now possessed the art of Shadowbending. Gyroe sill taught and collected more for his group. Years after Korra passed, Gyote was dying too, but he knew that the new Avatar would still hold the new bending and will lead the new nation

The Art of Bending​

Waterbending~Element used to manipulate water, snow, ice, and liquids.cWaterbenders also have the ability to heal wounds using water. They are stronger in moonlight. Small amount of waterbenders can bloodbend, though it is illegal in the sight of other people. Bloodbending can only be used in the full moon, but some say a few rare waterbenders do not need the full moon to bloodbend...

Firebending~Element used to control fire and heat. FIrebending is stronger in the daylight and even meteor showers. Firebending can be aligned with physical fighting moves. Only the strongest and mastered firebenders can also control lightning, though it is very risky to redirect lightning as it can kill the user

Earthbending~Element used to manipulate the earth. Weather does not really make the element stronger or weaker, but the bender being on earth does make them better since they can “see” using the ground. Expert earthbenders can metalbend, manipulating metal objects just like earth

Airbending~Element used to manipulate the air and winds. Just like earthbending, weather does not hurt or benfit airbending, but being in air does give them an advantage. Due to the last war, only a handful of airbenders exist.

Shadowbending~A new type of bending used to manipulate shadows, darkness, and even the dark thoughts of humans. No one really knows how this bending works, but it’s only function is to control people, capture them with darkness, and destroy them from the inside out. All Shadowbenders are marked as enemies from all 4 nations

Rules​

1. Keep things at a PG-13 level (language, romance, violence, yada yada you get it)
2. I know this can be hard to do since this type of RP is very fast paced especially in battle, but keep Godmodding and Power Playing to a minimum. I can notice you if you do it too frequently.
3. Murder is a no-no unless you get confirmation from both the owner and me.
4. Try staying on and posting frequently. It’s very frustrating to see a whole scene being stalled by just one person >_<
5. Only a max of 3 characters per person. You can control NPCs as long as you ask me first.
6. Remember, your OC does NOT have to be a bender (though I’m pretty sure y’all wanna be one xD)
7. I warned you in the beginning, I’ll do it again. SPOILERS AT MAX.
8. You can add more characters if your characters die and stuffz :p
9. You read everything? Good. Post “Republic City Citizen” in your first post :)
10. Have fun and keep it dramatic :D

Bio: Daughter of one of the wealthy families in Ba Sing Se. She was born with Earthbending though her parents forbid her to use it. Frustrated with her parents, she ran away from Ba Sing Se and into Republic City. She then was taken in by a woman and a man both capable in Earthbending. There for the rest of her life, she trained and eventually started to Metalbend. Her new parents were eventually killed by Shadowbenders in a raid attack. She swore revenge on the Shadowbenders who killed her mentors and her family and trained in Republic City, ready for any other fight. Though it doesn't seem she can just Earthbend especially after the attack...

Bio: His father was Gyote. After he died, Yaku was responsible for taking over his father’s role. As a child, he was trained hard to learn the powers of Shadowbending. It turned him into a hard, cruel young man who had nothing but world domination in his mind. He led a small attack on Republic City to give them a warning about the return of them. It killed hundreds, including Mya’s mentors. He then started collecting others into his group including chi blockers. Eventually, he started a war with the Fire Nation, capturing half of their land and claiming it theirs.

I think i should inform you that most people sign up in an OOC thread that has not been established in the OOC Lounge. I have interest in this RP here but I cannot properly sign up if there is no where to sign up too.

There are meant to be two separate threads. One for the actual story, and one to talk out of character and sign up characters. This would be the location for the story.

"Republic City. A city of life and a city of controversy. Though the days of Equilists are over, there are those who still abuse the weak with their bending. The Equalists were bad people, but those who abuse their powers to show dominance are worse. Sometimes, I think to myself that what Amon has done could have made a good result, but I know that wasn't the truth. If only he wasn't the person we thought he was, it would've been a lot more believable. There will always be the weak and the strong. It is the Avatar's job to help stabilize and bring balance to the two opposing forces. It was harder then when the Fire Nation decided to ruin the balance of the elements. Now, it's just s bunch of rebels. Nothing can be taken for granted though. A shadow is coming. It looms over the entire city. Maybe even all of the 4 lands. I can only hope the next can lift this darkness among from us. My time has passed. A new leader is needed to bring light to this world. May it come...and may it succeed." ~ Korra

Mya sighed as she tossed away the final history book into the corner. "Ugh finally. All this reading is making me tired." She hated her history class. It was so boring. All she wanted to do was to Earthbend. It was the only thing that entertained her. She stood up and stretched her arms as she walked over to the window of her home and looked out at the bright lights of Republic City. The city created a new Colosseum in dedication of the new Pro-Bending season. She was excited to see the new season of the Pro-Bending games. "Well a quick walk around the city won't hurt." She grabbed her robe and walked towards the main square of the city. After the discovery of Sato's assistance to the Equalists, the vehicles were now renamed into the Kormobile in honor of Avatar Korra's actions to the city. Mya's former guardians owned one, but she disliked it due to the fact she can't feel the floor. She headed over to the nearest noodle shop and decided to have a quick snack.

 

"Ohhh....ohhh...I'm so hunngryyy..." The growling was erupting from the cloaked man's stomach. His tan hand was rubbing his midsection while his feet dragged through the dirt of the city. He didn't care that he had no money! HE JUST WANTED TO EAT! It wasn't fair that he came from such a long way WITH NO FOOD! He clearly didn't think it out. The man mumbled under his breath, covering his face from the wind with the side of his hood. In his head, hallelujah was playing because he spotted a noodle shop! he ran over to the noodle shop so fast he almost tripped over his cloak. He sat down on the chair quietly, smiling under his hood. The little smile seemed..a bit sinister.

 

Miaodao got off his boat and let out a small yawn. His boat was docked at one of the less busy docks in Republic City, so it wouldn't be noticed. He tossed the fisherman 2 bags of coins one for letting him use his dock and the other for keeping an eye on his boat. He looked towards two of his apprentices "Let the Republic City Council know I have arrived safely." He then turned to a third apprentice "Spread the word this city is know under the protection of the White Lotus. That should cause the Shadow Benders to come after me." I may be a non-bender but I faced almost every-type of bender and have won he thought to himself. The shadows benders would be no different and he would have the head of the so called Fallen Shadow. Miaodao walked through the city letting the people whisper about him. He was the Grand-Lotus of the White Lotus and grandson of lengendary swordmaster Piandao. He had his hands on the hilts of his swords. He moved towards the center of the city. It was only a matter of time.

"The White Lotus is here?" Roku said out loud listening to his friend. "That's the biggest news I heard since the fire nation attack". He was sitting at a table at the noddle shop with a few of his friends. He looked across and saw a girl entering the shop. Wow she was pretty he thought as he almost chocked on his bite of noddles. He laughed and then said to his friends "I cant wait until the next season of Pro-bending starts. My team will win it... as soon as I find new teammates. I cant believe the others quit on me just because we lost last year. We made it to the semi-finals doesn't that count?" He then set his head on the table as his friends left "apparently not " he said.

OOC: I probably won't post as Yaku for at least a few more posts down so yerp :S

BIC: Mya sat across from Roku. "Big news tonight don't you think? The leader of the White Lotus in Republic City and the Pro-Bending team from last season in this shop." She gave him a small smile. "Don't push yourself too had. Getting into the semifinals is no easy task and I applaud you. Every bit I appreciate in you Pro-Benders." She called an order."Oh, sorry about my rash manners. I'm Mya." She also snuck a few glances at the cloaked man, finding him a bit unsettling.

 

Haru had his bowl of noodles in front of him. He screams out," FOOOD! I haven't eaten noodles in SOOOO LONG!" Suddenly, he'd send the chop sticks into the bowl of noodles, eating the noodles at a rapid speed. He hears the other people from the other table talking about the pro bending games. His hand swings over his hoody, dropping it off of his head with grace then he'd look towards Mya and the others at the table with a cold blank stare.

 

OOC: I am gone for one week and THIS happens!?! Oh my, is that a lot of characters. And how did you guys know i was eating noodles.:D

BIC:
Nera walked down the pier, with Fotia lighting the way. "It's so warm here," she said quietly. "Do you think it ever snows?" "Of course, silly." answered Fotia, "It's just summer here." "If it's summer, than why is it so dark?" "You idiot, didn't you here a word when Mom talked about the Fire Nation? The seasons are different here." That got Nera to think. Until her stomach interupted her thoughts. Fotia heard. "Look, there's a noodle shop. Do you want to get something to eat? We can ask about a clean cheap place to stay the night as well."When Nera nodded, they made a beeline for the inviting store front. The chairs were full, except for two beside a dark looking man, and a cheerful looking woman. As they sat down, they both got a forboding sense of uncertainty. They were about to get back up when the woman cheerfully said "Hello!"
They both stayed seated with unease settling like a ball in their stomachs. Suddenly, Nera wasn't so hungry any more.
