Fighting Sephiroth for the 5th time now, and I am not getting good luck fighting him. Right now I'm lv53, and I keep trying because I don't want to be lv99 or whatever, but I still keep losing. The farthest I got was around 5 bars of health left. Now I keep getting around half and he kills me with the Flame Pillar. So, You guys think I should train more at Pride Lands or just keep up the death spree?

KH2 Sephiroth is so easy though, I just spammed the reflect spell on him.

Don't level, try to loop him with block > counter.
Or, if all else fails, Monochrome + Item boost or whatever + (Trinity Limit > Ether > Trinity Limit > Ether)¹¹

How can you not beat him at Lv53. You can Guard pretty much everything he does and Counter to stun him. When he launches you, wait until he warps up to attack you and Retaliating Slash his face off. Quick Dodge helps to reach him when he goes up for the Heartless Angel, and for dodging the meteors... Yeah, it's hard to even take him seriously, I used to tear him up at lv45 on Proud to kill time while waiting for a text, or waiting to get picked up or something.

First game's a lot harder, I actually forgot how to beat him. I tried the same tactics as I use against KHII Seph and he cut my nipples off. It was embarrassing.

yeah well, fighting him on Proud Mode at lv53, that doesn't work too well

Not eveyrone is that good at the game. And I just use the High Jump and Double Jump or whatever you get from master form to stop heartless angel. Gets you there pretty quickly. And counter doesn't seem to help me lately. I don't know why, but I counter and his moves get in. I doubt it's because I'm too close, but it might be where I am. Either way, Last few times I tried he kept getting through my guard

Proud mode is still easy on KH2.

I know, I'm just not a guarding kind of guy, so I get hit most of the time, which makes it a bit more challenging. The only time I really ever use guard is when I fight sephiroth

Maybe games just aren't your thing.

Yeah, that. That's what I meant.

At the beginning of the fight, your only worry is predicting whether he'll use the reaction-able combo or the regular one; and Guard will power right through either one, so that's the safe option if you're getting twitchy. Just run at him, all the time, and when you see him draw his sword back for a combo, Guard. If you Counter at any point after he starts attacking you'll stun him and open him up for a solid few combos of your own. Later in the fight, the only difference is you can wait for him to come after you instead.

That's like saying you're just not the type to win a game. Guard is also known as "Don't Die" in KHII. (As opposed to KH, where Dodge Roll is "Don't Die" and Guard is "Get Fancy.") Berserking your way through Normal is just unsophisticated gameplay, trying it on Proud mode gets you punished.

What are you talking about? It's easy to block the 13-hit move because the screen gets dark, or you could high enough into the air. And you can get in about 2 solid combos before he teleports. I've counted. Once you get in 2 ground combos, 2 air combos, or one of each he teleports and attacks. But I don't like guarding because that makes it too easy. I like a challenge. If I guarded all the time it would take the fun out of the game. If I went in charging I can still make it a bit of a challenge because you can get countered or something. Most of the time when I fight him I let him hit me into the air because it's one of the few times I can get hurt on purpose. Other times it's just unlucky like with the Flames. And games are my thing, I'm just not one of those people that excell at them.

Then play Demon's Souls, or Armored Core, Odin Sphere, Killer7, any of the Devil May Cry's, Oni... KHII is not supposed to be hard, it's supposed to be flashy. It's not strategically complex, so what's the point of eking a challenge out of it when there's so many better options on the PS2 alone? Anyway, it's silly to come asking for pointers when you have the answer right in front of you and you're refusing to use it.

Oh, and the dodge you get from Wisdom form works well for getting away from the flame column. Don't jump though, the pull is too strong.

I would only go as far as level 60, but you should be good where you're at. Anything past that and you remove practically all enjoyment from this fight.

Where are you really having trouble in this fight? I mean you really only mention the flame pillar and that is easy enough to stay out of with glide or quick run.

well, I'm just having trouble because the guard gets past sometimes, and Of course my defense isn't exactly the best at lv53 on Proud Mode against him. And getting away from the flame pillar works fine if you use valor form and master form's ablities. Heck, I never bother with Wisdom Form

In my personal opinion, there aren't many better options to play. I either play this, Rogue Galaxy, or my Final Fantasy Games. And what's the point of making a challenge out of it? It think the answer is in the question. To make it a challenge

High Jump makes little difference with the pillar. Though Aerial Dodge helps.

I actually don't use block or reflect much in this battle. Evading him tends to be enough.

What does your setup look like? (What level are your forms? What are your shortcuts? What abilities are you using? What keyblade? etc.)

Aerial Dodge, that's what I'm thinking of. Jeez, I can never think of that word. But My Valor and Master are lv5, Wisdom at 2 because I wanted to get MP Rage but I just don't want to go through that toruble. My shortcuts are Curaga, Reflectaga, Elixir, and Thundaga(not that i use that). Abilities are, well let's say pretty much all the useful stuff, because I don't remember them all. And the keyblade I've just been messing around. Usually I wait till I get Oblivion just because it's my favorite and I like fighting Sephiroth with it. But I've used Lion heart(that's what I got to 5 bars), Decisive Pumpkin or whatever, which I hate, Auron's keyblade thing that I don't remember the name, and just for kicks I used Kingdom Key in the last fight just because I wanted to.

no way jose. So many reasons for me not to, but the biggest is that I can't. I don't have one, and the gameshark disk that came with the PS2 when we got it is gone as well.

not cheating. I don't cheat on games like Kingdom hearts and all hte other great games. It's just wrong. Well, at least that's what my opinion is.
