Eh I hope it doesn't become another WiiU controller, but some form of touch screen would be cool. I'd like it to remain as relatively close as the original DualShock controllers.

Off topic, but I feel this belongs here:

Nothing official, but more or less (unofficial) specs that are pretty much consistent to what Orbis is believed to have. Looks like it's shaping up to be a beast even with current standards.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing what changes the new controller will have. Just as long as it isn't a giant gamepad. That seems pretty unlikely though since it seems like Orbis will be pretty..."hardcore" if I had to put a word to it. I'm kind of hoping Orbis becomes the official name now. XD

I've always loved the DualShock controllers, so it's a bit sad seeing that it might be replaced with the PS4 after all these years. I just hope the new contollers will be easy to use.

If it turns out to be a touchscreen controller, three things will happen:

1: EVERYONE will briefly make it a laughing stock for doing the same thing as the Wii U.

2: It will always have the stigma of doing the same thing as the Wii U.

3: Sony fanboys will praise it as "original" (somehow) and infinitely better than the the Wii U, regardless of how it compares to the Wii U.

Knowing Sony, they'll try to claim that Nintendo had no bearing on this supposed controller... which, to be honest (personal bias here, take it with a grain of salt), I doubt. It's like when they created the original Dualshock. It felt like they were saying "Oh, they have an analogue stick? Well, we have TWO." Same with when the announced that the Vita would have the touch panel on the back of the system. Yeah, I'm sure there's more to it, but that's what it felt like. And I really can't think of any reason other than that why they had the touch panel on the Vita (and, hell, every time I mess with a Vita, I forget the damn thing is even there).

Now, to be fair, this could turn out like dual analogue sticks and four shoulder buttons: Standard controller features, regardless of the reason why they're on the controller in the first place.

They do, but they don' t claim it was their idea either : http://kotaku.com/5810920/ps-vita-t...ean-wii-u-style-experiences-for-sonys-console

Frankly if that' s true I' m a little on the fence, it would raise the price of controllers up to ridiculous levels. Sure, there' s the occasional game that does exploit touch screens, secondary screens or motion controls in a way that doesn' t feel contrived or unnecessary, but most of the games I play would be just as good without them.

That being said, I managed to gather four friends, three GBA, three connection cables, a Gamecube and Zelda Four Swords once, and it truly was an epic blast. I never had that much fun in a multi-player game since Bomberman. I guess in the end what truly matters is whether the devs exploit the tools they' re given smartly or not, otherwise their hypothetic potential is just that, hypothetical.

If it has some sort of screen, I'll be majorly annoyed. I don't want to a Wii U, the Wii U has a ****** controller. However, I'm not entirely against a redesign of the Dualshock. It's a great controller, but there's nothing wrong with changing things up once in a while.

While not original, Nintendo wasn't completely also. Dreamcast made the controller with screen, Ps3 always had conectivity with the PSP and PS Vita (and go, but no one cares about Psp go). So the tools of the WiiU were always there with sony, truth be told WiiU think in a better way to use them, but they're not original per se . I do hope that Sony use these features in a great way, but not so expensive. We all know that this could be a fiasco like Ps move, that has superior tecnology and better performence in capturing movemnts, nevertheless it was so expensive in comparison with the Wii mote and Kinect that it didn't made a hit.

This seems to be official stuff. Kotaku claims it is anyways. It all matches up with what we've been hearing. Except memory. It's 8 gigs instead of 4 or whatever else we've been hearing.

Oh and there won't be a touchscreen on the new controller. It'll be a touchpad. And it'll have vibration and better motion control. So Sony has at least learned from the failure of the original PS3 controller(Sixaxis).
