http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090626/ap_on_re_us/us_providence_plantations well i cant decide what to call this place... we'll flip a coin....alright, heads rhode island, tails, caca -poo poo pee pee shire lol
I don't know why their name right now is such a big deal. Everybody's trying to change the state's formal name just because it brings up thoughts of slavery. We all know slavery is bad, but the time period when that name was decided must also be considered.
Family Guy. Anywho, I don't see what the big deal is. I could care less. Who even brought this up, again? D:
Not only did I NOT know that was Rhode Island's full name, the change won't affect me. I'll still it Rhode Island. When I read the topic title, I thought you meant liike "Rhode Island" would be changed to something else.
Really? Just really? I don't think this is entirley neccessary. It may be the 'official' name, but the 'officially unoffical' name will always be Rhode Island.
I don't see the difference. I'll still call it Rhode Island. There just making things harder on themselves.
"State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" is what is being debated. People want to vote out the 'and Providence Plantations' part; not Rhode Island. So in other words, all of us will still call it Rhode Island, regardless. I think it's fine to get rid of the second part because no one ever addresses it that way anyway.
