I'm pretty hyped for this, seeing as Resident Evil REmake can only go up to 480p on the Wii, and I've been wanting to play a classic RE game for quite some time.
Oh god I've been waiting for this to happen for a long time. It's looking great! I'm confused though; it says that it's based on the build of REmake - I thought Nintendo held the rights for that and 0? I always thought it wouldn't be possible for either of those two to touch a Sony console due to exclusivity or whatever.
Ooh it looks VERY nice. A pretty remake of the game will be very appreciated to the fans, both old and new. Mostly old doe. Though I also noticed it's also gonna come out on next gen as well. I wonder how that would look?
...Am I the only one who played REmake and thinks this looks like crap by comparison? Why did they zoom in on the same pre-rendered, upscaled backgrounds....?
I dunno, there are shots that look like they' d look better on a cathodic TV and some that look nicer. Hard to tell going by pictures alone. One thing is for sure though : the original looks like crap on my HDTV. However I' ve already combed that game through and through. Same goes for 0, 2 and 3. Can' t play them anymore, I' ve sucked those lemons dry to the last drop. Here' s hoping Capcom is willing to re-aply the old formula to a genuinely new game if this is successful.
I dunno if it's cause I never played REmake, but they look really good to me ._. though I definitely do see jags on some walls, yes. Just not as bad to me as, like Patman said, upscaling 480p to a 1080p resolution.
Play it on a CRT, it'll look a thousand times better. The walls and decorations don't look jaggy because OLD GAME LUL. They look like that because they zoomed in on PRERENDERED backgrounds to adjust the aspect ratio (imagine if FFVII was "remastered" and they zoomed in on the backgrounds- you know, pictures made at a certain size... ZOOMED IN ON. If you need to emulate this, put a picture in MS Paint and zoom in to 150%). As a result too, objects are bigger (the paintings are freakin' huge compared to Chris- I can't get over this). This is something that could actually impact the entire set-piece design of the game. Something that's pretty important in classic RE. The only thing they updated here is the models, and they look more smoothed out than updated. Like they've lost their grit. Pass.
This is actually huge news for me, I still haven't been able to play by it's chronological order. So I'm happy that theres going be a remake so that I could finally began the Resident Evil series. Well I have the original director's cut port on the Ps3, but a remake is even much better! ;0
Honestly, it looks pretty good to me; probably because I never did play REmake, but if it's as bad as Atlas says and I should just go with the Gamecube/Wii release, I'd be willing to.
