A new Digimon game will come out in Japan in the 19th of July, and many people consider it to be a remake of the first Digimon game for PSX due to their similarities. Check out the trailer: The evolution of Digimon partners will depend on how players raise the monsters in the game. Players will also be able to compete against friends' Digimon or team up for cooperative battles. Thanks to a certain incident, the 14-year-old bike loving protagonist got lost in the Digital World where Digital Monsters, a.k.a. Digimon lives. Nicolai "Nico" Petrov will be your rival who owns a stoic Mirage Gaogamon. Akiho Rindō is a cheerful and curious girl whose Digimon is the gentle Garudamon. I don't think an international version will be released. Credit: http://www.jefusion.com/2012/05/digimon-world-redigitize-psp-gets.html
Wow, this looks really great. I never owned a PSX, so I never owned the original Digimon World, but I'll keep my eye on this one.
omg do I remember Digimon World for the PS1. That game is still in my top 10 all time favorites list.
This looks pretty good. The original Digimon World was fun, but 2 and 3 sucked. If they return the gameplay from 1, then this had better get an international release.
The problem with that is; Digimon doesn't have the huge gaming fanbase it once did back then. So japan are probably thinking twice about releasing it world wide, believing that funding the international release might do more harm than good. along with having to dub it and everything. Don't get me wrong; I loved the Digimon games for ps1 and would love to buy this. But, it seems more unlikely it won't get an international release.
Even without an international release it is quite possible that a translation patch will be created for the rest of the world. And even if that doesn't happen either, there must be someone who will write a walkthrough for everyone.
If there is enough demand by the fans or someone willing to do a patch (though, PSP english patches aren't too hard to do. Not as hard as PS2 games) I'm sure there will. Though, this is just a theory. The company might think of not dubbing the game itself (eg: the way the creators of the new one piece pirate warriors game for ps3 are doing it) and release it onto PSN, this is only a theory though.
Oh, now that you mentioned demand, I did come across a petition for this situation, so if you have time you could sign it up. In my opinion it has very few signatures to even be considered by the developers. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/bring-digimon-world-re-digitize-psp-stateside-for-glo.html
These petitions never really get acknowledged though..to be quite blunt; i've never come across a situation where a petition for a game to be internationally released has actually worked.
The game was released today and people like it a lot from what I've heard. A translation spreadsheet project has already begun, can be found here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/637157-digimon-world-redigitize/63455731 Anyone can work on it even with small knowledge of Japanese.
We won't be getting this, nor will we ever other great games like E.X Troopers JAPAAAAAAAAAN!!!! Time to learn Japanese for poor Type-0.
