I feel really stupid for asking this, but how exactly am i able to record myself playing a certain game on my PS3 without standing there and using a video camera? I want to record myself playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood online multiplayer but i'm not quite sure how to do so. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, don't feel stupid. I have made the same question last year about it (/inb4AmauryandMixt). There is a equipment for this, something that records you playing it, when you connected it to your TV, it can record!

I am sorry, I don't have the name of this thing that is able to record it, but I'm sure someone knows and can point you a one better than me.

Myself, I use Happhauge. $199 for me. If you want a good one, it'll cost ya, and since its PS3, you'd want a HD recorder. You're gonna have to spend quite some money on it. Just do a quick google search for Capture Card. I know Misty has posted here before with a pretty decent list.

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD is pretty good. It works as a capture card, too.

    Indeed I have. ;o
Since it's coming from your PS3, as Noroz said, you're going to want one that supports HD video. We can help you pick one, if you just answer a few questions:

    1. What sort of connection are you using from your PS3 to your TV?
      It's either composite (red/white/yellow), component (red/blue/green/and a few others i can't remember), or HDMI.
    2. What sort of connections does your TV support?
    3. Do you have a laptop? If not, is your desktop near your television?
    4. How much are you looking to spend?

    1. FAIRLY sure its composite as it has those colour plugs that you mentioned, but it says "HDMI1" when i choose an input method. Little confused about it, but i'll double check i guess.
    2. I really have no idea..
    3. I've got a laptop, i use it all the time :P
    4. Anywhere up to $200 is fine with me

Check to make sure for the input, then. That's most important, at this point. Component is HD but it usually shows as Component on the input menus. Your PS3 can display the info for you if it's tough to see the cabling to your television. Just go to the Display Settings and run through the setup wizard. Take note of what you choose on the first screen.

I'd like some help in this department as well, I do have a laptop, it doesn't have an HDMI output, but my HDTV has two HDMI ports, Component port, composite, I don't care too much about pricing, I use my Xbox 360 BTW and I use HDMI to play it, any suggestions?

    Edited: Misread that

You can find some Recorders with HDMI inputs. Quick google search.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, the Blackmagic Intensity accepts HDMI inputs, though it's pricey (begins at $200). Googling brought up this one as well, which is only $100, but the reviews seem to be all over the place, and it doesn't offer as many connection options as the Blackmagic.

The AVerMedia one requires at a minimum:

    • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 GHz, or equivalent
    • Graphics Card: 128MB of memory, supports DirectX 9.0c or above
    • RAM: 1GB or more
    • Operating System: Windows XP, Vista, and 7
For the Blackmagics, I'm guessing you'd be looking at either the Pro or the Shuttle. The Pro requires:

    • Installation: PCI Express port (requires you actually opening your computer up)
    • Operating System: Windows 7, Mac OSX, Linux
    And the Shuttle:

    • Connection: Requires USB 3.0, does not support USB 2.0
    • Operating System: Windows 7

There may be more but that's what I found at a glance. You should have a relatively decent computer to record.
