Reasons to get an Xbox One?

My brother seems to be really wanting to get one, but I've yet to be convinced enough to drop the money.

Stuff I'd want an Xbox One for so far:

• Halo (Master Chief Collection and 5, though I'm still pissed 5 doesn't have split-screen campaign)
• Killer Instinct (which will eventually be ported to Windows 10 anyway)
• Scalebound (which is like a year away still
• backwards compatibility (in the works)

There anything interesting that I'm missing?

(before I forget to mention, I already have a gaming PC, a PS4, and a Wii U)

 

Honestly, the only reason I could think of is Rise of the Tomb Raider, and even that will be ported to PS4 a little time after it's released on Xbox One.

Though I'm a fan of Playstation over Xbox, so my opinion probably doesn't count much

 

I still need to play the 2013 game >.>

 

Reasons to get an Xbox One?

None. Absolutely none. Unless you like the taste of disappointment.

What advice do you want? You just said yourself that you don't see enough reason to get one. If you were really interested in it, you wouldn't need convincing. It doesn't sound like you're even on the fence about it. I'm assuming you've done your research on what the system offers, feature-wise and game-wise (granted, that assumption comes from you apparently knowing more about me about the system) since you wouldn't drop that much money without giving it serious consideration.

Judging by the parentheses, you'd rather get Killer Instinct on Windows 10. Backwards compatibility and Scalebound are not immediate benefits that you see. So either get it for Halo or wait until you think you'll get more bang for your buck out of it (which, judging by your own reaction, you don't think so right now).

Personally, I never buy a system unless there are a handful of games already out that I want and upcoming games that I know will be on the system.
Except for the Wii U; that was a present.

If you're so on the fence that all it will take is KHV's opinion, then...yeah. Go ahead and get it. Why not? You'll get Halo, Gears of War, and everything else you listed when it's released.

Otherwise, it sounds like you either don't want to do the research yourself (which to me looks like you already did) or you don't really want one and just like the idea of having one. So to reiterate my prior point: if you don't see enough reason to get one, then don't.

I made the thread for people to help me with the research part. I thought maybe there were games and features and such that I missed when I was looking up whether to get it.

Windows 10 is far from perfect right now, while I know the game performs really well on the Xbox One. I'm just trying to weigh the options and asking others to help put weight on both options.

I'm not sure where your attitude is coming from, to be honest with you. Believe it or not, I value opinions of people here, so yeah, I figured maybe there'd be something someone said that could help me sway one way or another.

Coming in and saying "Then don't get one." doesn't help me in anyway with coming to a more informed conclusion.

There's no attitude here. If there is any in my previous post, it was in response to your sarcasm. My initial post was a simple statement: if you don't want one, don't get one. I'll admit you haven't gotten many responses to this yet aside from one person telling you not to get one up above, but someone mentioned Tomb Raider, and someone else mentioned how Microsoft's first party output would be the best reason. You still said you didn't see enough reason to get one. So...maybe I'm overpsychoanalyzing you, but you really don't seem like you want one. Hence, my post.

 

Whether you meant it or not, I've been getting an aggressive tone from you. If I can be frank, you kind of are over psychoanalyzing me, and I find it annoying. I'm open to having my mind changed, hence this thread. I can't say that I've looked over all of the reasons to get the system or not, hence this thread.

My post about not having enough reason yet doesn't mean I've concluded "Nope, no Xbox." It's just a thought of that moment.

Why would I waste my time making this thread and talking to people if I already had my mind made?

I'm not saying your mind was already made. I made a similar thread before I got a PS4 because I wanted to be able to justify the purchase when I didn't think I'd have the time to enjoy it. I'm saying that I don't think you really want one, but the idea of having one intrigues you so you want someone to push you towards getting one. That was the whole point of my "then don't get one" to which you responded with sarcasm. I didn't mean it as negatively as you took it; it was just blunt.

Unless you have a ridiculous amount of people begging you to play the console/you feel like you need to play the console exclusives, I wouldn't do it. I have one and barely use it. Halo 5 was nice, but it isn't enough to justify the console.
