Chain of Memories Really Weird Map Card

I don't know if it's a glitch in my game, or if it's normal (which would be really, really stupid) but I get this weird map card where the card is just black, and when I use it I just enter a pitch black room with nothing in it except enemies, and it's completely flat and you can see a door off in the distance and when you reach it you can use a different card and the game continues on like normal. Am I the only one getting this?

 

I got that same card throughout the game. So I don't think it's a glitch.

Does anyone know what the point of them is? They're just so stupid...

 

I used it in a world, and only shadows appeared, I think it's trying to give the illusion you can't see the enemy well in battles and in the room.

 

Its some sort of bonus level it was in CoM was it not?

 

Ugh, that one was really annoying...they're just trying to tick you off, I think.

As libregkid said, save them for opening up the more important rooms. They're completely pointless besides that.
