Ready for the DSi?

Well, GameStop says you can preorder one now. Supposedly they'll be available April 4th in the US. Two colors are available right now: Black and Blue. I dunno why, but the blue one kinda reminds me of a raspberry Dum Dum Pop.

Oh, they're also doing this thing where you'll get a $25 credit if you trade in your Lite towards the DSi. The system itself costs $169.99 (which is only about $40 than what the DS Lite costs right now), or an accessory bundle is also available, featuring a car charger, portfolio system case,screen protectors, game case, headphones, and 3 extra stylus pens (styli?) for $194.98.

There's also a video on the site showing off the system, but it seems to focus solely on the camera function and music function. There's a quick clip or two of Mario Kart DS to show off the screens, but that's about it.

Sorry if this is old news...I searched the forum and didn't see anything, so I figured I'd inform.

 

Hmm, well I already have about five nintendo DS's in my house, the older ones and the "newer" DS lites. I might consider getting a Nintendo DSi if the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Bundle comes to America.

 

I'm thinkin' 'bout buyin' one since my DS Lite was stolen by my mum. I haven't seen it for several weeks 'cept when it's in my mum's hands. xD

If I ever get a DS, I'd prefer a Lite.

It has lower battery life, and lacks a GBA slot, so this is more of a downgrade, really.

Bull **** the colours (lawl notice how colour is spelled with a U =D) I want white or the KH one ^^ though, I wonder why they changed the colours.

 

Some shops here give you £75 off if you trade in your auld Lite.

Do you know what the average battery life is? N' for GBA games i played 'em on my auld GBA (Zelda version, yay!) anyway. The removal of the slot doesn't bother me.

 

Great, but not that shiny.. My Lite's fine, it took long enough to get that, I'm not gonna change for the DSi's improvements. And because it doesn't have a GBA slot :\

the problem with the dsi lacking a gba slot is that you can't play games that require gba accessories, like Guitar Hero On Tour.

 

Getting a DSi isn't really in my plans (or within my budget).

 

Nintendo sure know how to milk their products.

I never bothered to get the DS lite, and I'm not going to leap over hurdles to get this either. The improvements and additions just aren't convincing enough(And what could have been potentially convincing enough, such as the camera just don't meet much expectations in my opinion). I'll stick with my original silver Nintendo DS, kthx.

 

The DSi is a cool idea and everything, but it's just too much. When is anyone actually going to use the stuff it comes with? It's one of those things that would be cool when you first get it, but just a bit silly afterward. I'm a little angry about them getting rid of the GBA slot, too. I was angry when the DS couldn't hold GBC games, and this is just the same annoyance. Plus my SP broke recently so I'd have no way to play GBA games if I traded in my DS for a DSi.

The only thing good about the DSi is that it will bring down the cost of DS Lites, which I've been wanting to pick up.

 

Both Misty and 007 started my reason for giving this thing a miss. Without the GBA slot, I can't play Guitar Hero on it, because the grip goes there. I still have my SP, but sometimes I play them on the DS instead.

The biggest reason is the Pokemon games. How else am I going to get my Pokemon off of R/S/E/FR/LG? Do I import them onto one DS, then trade with myself to the Dsi? Sounds like too much work...

 

DSi

I haven't checked on the updates in a long time, so I'm kinda out of the loop. Will the special DSi be sold in America, or just Japan? Also, it this one of the new games that has special features on the DSi? I'm not sure if I should buy one, and this could help decide.

 

Wrong section and the DSi has been released in Japan and North America already.

 

Oh, sorry, I thought it came with the game or something. Just making sure I was clear, I meant the version with the pattern of symbols from the game, because I haven't seen it.

 

as a word of advice, Dont Buy The DSi I't really sucks, I Used one before! It has a Digital Camera as a Replacement for the GBA Slot so It Makes It Pathetic! also only Plays DS Games. So What's the Point Buying it? Mobile Phones Have Cameras, Digital Cameras (Same Thing), Camcorders or Capture Cards Have A Take Picture Feature. And Nearly Everyone Have Got Cameras. So What's The Point?
