So I might be getting a job and this just came to my mind, lets say I have something going on in March, late March mind you is it possible that I can take a day off on a Saturday in the late of March, a rare thing to happen since I rarely miss any days, is it possible for me? Would they not freak out? Or would they? Could I say to them that its my first and only personal day of the year?
It depends greatly on where you work. Some companies have rather strict policies about time off requests, others are lax. My job only requires I give about a week's notice. If you're really worried about it, though, the next time you go in just speak to the manager and say that you've got something going on in March & that you'd like off, if it's possible. One day shouldn't be a big deal, and I'm sure they'll understand. Two months notice is plenty, and because you were just hired, it's not like you could have gotten it in any sooner.
Sounds good, the job isn't strict, they have other people in my position anyway, I didn't mention it to them yet, should I mention it to them on late February or around the time before its going to happen? It's on the 23'rd of March.
You should mention it as soon as possible, just ask "what's your policy on requesting off," or something along those lines, mention you'll need a day off in March. Depending on when they tell you to put in the request, that's when you should formally ask off.
I don't have any work expierence, so I can't say how they would react, but I would definitely not say that it would be the only day you would take off for the rest of the year. You never know what's going to come up, be it an emergency or something else.
