hey guys so my mom's supposed to get her pc back tomorrow along with another pc from my neighbors
but the internet cord I bought doesn't fit in the 2nd internet adapter plug of out cable motum so we were wondering....would it be possible to connect the internet cord into both pc's and have them feed on of the internet using the same motum between both pc's?

Thanks you very much for any replies on this!^ ^

If you have 2 ethernet ports in the computer yes, I believe you can.

If you have wifi on one of them, you can.

You'll have to bridge the connections though, but it's a fairly easy process. But let me know if it'll be wifi-cable or cable-cable.

If you're talking about connecting multiple PCs into the same modem, then, yes, it's possible, as we have both of our PCs hooked up to the same modem.

Well, first of all, are you sure you're trying to use the Ethernet port on your modem? Are you sure you have an Ethernet cable? Some PCs these days also have a phone jack, to support dialup; make sure you're trying the port labeled 'Ethernet'. They'd look like this:

Another question: do you have a router or just a modem?

Yes, you'll need a router, or an ethernet splitter. An ethernet splitter will only let you use one machine at a time, and basically it's a piece of ****, so you probably won't want that. What you want to do is buy a router, a machine that you hook up into your modem, that allows you to connect multiple TVs/Game Systems/PCs/etc and feed off the modem. Linksys has cheap routers that Wal - Mart or Target will sell. Like this one:

You may have a modem/router, which is what I have. If the back of it has 4 or more ethernet plugs, than you should be good. You should provide a manufacturer and model number so we can help you better.

yes we have a route, @ misty yes the cable I bought is an ethernet cable it just doesn't match the 2nd ethernet plug on the back of the motum, that's why I was wondering if it would be possible to hook the ethernet cable into both pc's and have the feed off the same motums internet connection and BTW the router I have is a router from comcast if that matters.:/

The router should have a switch board on the back; basically, four or five Ethernet ports. One is used to connect to the modem, where the modem provides internet connectivity to the router. The computers plug into the remaining Ethernet ports.

kk and tbh I just noticed those outlets in the back of the router today the only issue is we had to use the only ethernet cord we had that wasn't broken and that I bought to hook my moms pc into the internet, so now I'm going to have to buy another ethernet cable to be able to hook the other pc into the router so that I can use the internet.:/

If your computers have wireless cards and your router supports it you could just use that until you get Ethernet cables.

that's just it I dunno if they DO have wireless cards so that's why I'm gonna get another ethernet cord even if it means waiting which tbh I have no problem with.:/
