EDIT: I've figured out the problem. You can ignore this thread.

Alright, so I have the UMD copy of Dissidia loaded onto my PSP. I turn it on and there goes the PSP logo. So then, I hear the UMD loading and the screen goes black. I see the memory stick logo blink. After a couple of seconds or so, the PSP automatically turns off. D:?

I have no idea what's going on. I tried my *one* other PSP games and are working just fine but the particular one is Dissidia. Now, I did have some trouble loading with the game, specifically before a battle (when they give you that Loading screen) and it freezes. My entire PSP completely froze for a while but I eventually got it back to turning it on and off again. I took out the game and let my PSP rest (since we have been playing for 12 days straight :x). The next morning (right now) I turn on my PSP, put in Dissidia, and the weird thing is happening. I'm not sure whether it's my UMD copy to blame or just the PSP.

Have you updated the OFW that came on the disc? That might be a reason.

OFW? If there was such an update, I would have done it by now. I've been playing the game since the day it came out but for some reason, it's stopping to work now...

OFW = Official FirmWare. Basically the system your PSP runs on, like a computer update. It's the option beneath the UMD whenever you put a disc in. Anyway, if you've done it, then I honestly don't know. Maybe there's some manner of damage to the disc or the reader that means it isn't loading properly, otherwise, I'm clueless.

well, i just got the game so insert the UMD in the PSP and it'll ask for an update of 5.55 and the screen will go black for a few minutes and you'll be put through the installing stuff.

After that, go to Data Install, the bigge rthe KB, teh more time it will take to install BUT the bigger it is, the more shorter your loading times

Alright, I've found the problem. It was actually the Data Install option that's screwing the game up. I deleted that and now my game is working fine. I've heard that some PSP's don't really need the Data Install (cuz to tell the truth, it's loading faster without it).

But anyway, thanks guys for at least trying to help. :]
