That's really cool! It's a great idea too so now people can like test out when they're interesting in playing/buying.

Rent a game for seven days... I feel like that's very exploitable

This option doesn't appear in my Ps3.

That's pretty sweet, but surely there's a catch, right? Like [no trophy activation]/[wait a certain amount of days to rent again].

Still, a really good deal it is.

How do the video game companies gain money from this though? I mean, they could potentially lose a huge profit from casual players.

Wow this is an awesome idea! Though this is somewhat strange. PS+ already has a similar option with the 60 Minute Trial for some games.

Also, is this rental for ALL players or for PS+ members only?

Doesn't show up for me, have you gotten any reports of it showing up in Canada? It might not even be North America, but just the US

Depends whether or not they decide to mess with you, like making the save data disappear once the rental time ends, or something along those lines.

I think it might be decent for those that have heard of a game but don't quite want to pay $40 just to try it out, or for that matter, pay a monthly fee for gamefly just to rent a game. I still laugh at the thought of gamefly.

On a side note, is it wrong that I can't stop staring at the funbags in that picture?

Interesting. I can't boot up my system now to check, but other articles have said that nothing appears to actually happen when you select a rent option. Perhaps this is frontend for testing that they forgot to, or couldn't, conceal. Regardless I'm certainly interested in seeing where this goes.

I do really like this idea, it feels like a nice demo, of course it seems like it could be easily exploited (I'm sure there are lots of people out there eager to finish games in one day or even 7 days can be done if you just want to play the game). The only sort of game I can't see it working on is something like Skyrim- where the game has so much you can do and complete and so many different role play aspects of it that you want to keep your character.

Of course, I don't have PSN or live in NA so we shall see where it goes. But this feels a bit like a huge one up on the Xbox One's idea of a fee to unlock preowned games.

Is it free because of PS+?

Honestly, this is a great idea. It helps a lot of people who want to stream weekly and not buy a game or people who need a game quick for youtube purposes, or even just unsure after the demo (LOL COMPANIES PUT OUT DEMOS). I see good things coming from this. Specifically, a slowdown of GameFly ads as their customer base flees the scene over the next couple years. After all, I'm sure this won't be a Sony only thing.

Yeah, I have no issues with this.

I've looked on my own psn and I can't find the option for this anywhere. Is it only for certain games?

It appears to only be on Catherine in the North America store.
