I am personally quite happy that those obscure photoshops are indeed finally being brought to their lovely lives.
OH. MY. GOD. The artwork is so beautiful! And the animation as well! But this is definitely the most random crossover ever. After all, Phoenix's Gyakuten Saiban games take place in 2001-3 in Japan, and the Professor Layton series I could place at about... the sixties heading into the seventies, at the latest.
Perhaps the 1860s to 1870s may be considered the earliest. The premise of the games appears to draw inspiration from the Salem Witch Hunts, if I am not mistaken - considering how silly most settings of Professor Layton games can be I would presume such a factor may be justified using external factors or some such. I shall agree it is a strange crossover, however - I am now preemptively curious as to how they shall work in the gameplay of both the Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton games, if noted as such.
(I'd say late sixties because Layton's car is a Citroën 2CV, which was built between 1948 and 1960, and is apparently old-fashioned by the time we get to the series. The promo pic for Lost Future also has the dial stuck between 6 and 7 in '19*3'.) Witch Trials, indeed. Layton and Nick have been pulled into a strange world controlled by the Story Teller, the evil fanfic author who is creating their crossover. Nick is then forced to defend somebody who has been accused by witchcraft, while Layton shall be... filling in the local sudoku?
Oh, my, god... this game looks amazing! The snapshots are stunning. Puzzles + murder mysteries = amazing gameplay and storyline I can't wait to play this glorious treasure. Just one question. Will this be for DS or 3DS?
I think i just had a heart attack! HOLY 3424654@#$@@$! I will get this game the day it is released! Oh wait. It's for the 3DS. -__-;
FFFFFFFFFF- looks like i'll have to steal a 3DS. My mom will NEVER buy it for me when i've got a "perfectly good DSi" that she recently purchased. I'm doing to die. First KH3D, Kid Icarius, and countless other games. Now Witch Trials? Nintendo can be so f---ing annoying at times...
OH MY GOD. I literally screamed. This is going to be so awesome. I'm a huuuge AA fan, but I never got around to trying Professor Layton even though the Ace Attorney fandom seems to really like it, so uh... I guess I oughta try it before this game comes out. I really hope it'll be translated. Don't both games have a semi-large following in the West, or at least Ace Attorney?
AA has a fairly large cult following in the west, and the Layton games have been absolutely massive successes as far as the UK is concerned. This had better be released here. I want to hear what Phoenix is going to be like with a proper English voice, besides his objections.
Both games have a pretty good following as far as the U.S. is concerned. And you simply must play the first three Layton games or you will cringe at the puzzles they may throw at you in this thing. I want to hear his real voice as well. I also have to wonder if Miles Edgeworth or Inspector Chelmey and Barton will make any kind of cameo. It would be pretty funny if they did...
This makes me a happy kitty indeed! I love both the Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton games (Seriously, i was disappointed that Phoenix Wright wouldn't star in anymore Ace Attorney games, but this is waaaaaay better!). I'm curious as to how this will play, some details would've been nice but the images/trailer is more than enough to satisfy at the mo. I demand they have Mia appear! >:3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6HjKH5YarA ^English subs.
"I don't like Sir Silk Hat at all" LOL I played only one Professer Layton game and I enjoyed it, but I never played an AA game. I SHOULD PROBABLY GET ON THIS. THIS LOOKS AMAZING.
dat OBJECTION This game looks absolutley amazing and I wish I had a 3DS now so I would be able to play it. But unfortunately it seems to only be coming out for Japan. Link ;_;
nicee. It's great to see franchises still crossing-over and well done ones at that. Rather than seeing just RPG's or fighting games. Honestly I've only played the first Professeor Layton game - it was fun though I rarely play puzzle games, as for Phoenix Wright; I've played all. ^^
Apparently, if you comment enough on the Capcom Unity blog entry, they'll make an English localisation.
I think I'm going to have to go and get a 3DS now. I adore both these games, and seeing them meshed together will be entertaining.
