I actually really like the first avatar. But it'd be more appealing to try to create an effect of some kind, to make the stocks really pop. I know it's a hard thing to do since it's such a small space, but it can really help creating that unique look on your avatars. Instead of just cropping and maybe just fixing the lighting, maybe try to blur the sides, or smooth the stock's focal. Make it the thing the eyes look to first instead of the last thing it looks at. I really like what you're getting at, and you're improving with everyone you make. Keep it up. :3
