as alot of people believe, the end of the world will be in 2012. there is fact that the earth, sun, and center of the milky way will aline in 2012. some people think that there will be some magnetic pull change, and stuff will happen to the earth.

now, the maya's beleived in these 13 skulls (i was watching this thing on the sci-fi channel). they are hidden around the world. if we find most or all of the skull, and put them in a certain place, it will prevent armageddon from happening.

    what do you think???

Never use the sci-fi channel as material for intellectual debate. It's SCIENCE FICTION, sir.

prevention of Armageddon? Call Bruce Willis.

IDK, to me it seems that no matter what way we look at it, there could be ten or more things that could lead us to our own Armageddon, whether it be from our own doing of 2012. I find the entire subject fascinating but if you want my honest and more concrete answer, asking me in 4 years.

You watched that Indiana Jones special pertaining to information about the 13 skulls, didn't you? I watched that too. There are only I believe 6 (or 5) skulls that have been found and in the possession of either museums or mostly private owners that go about showing them off and saying they have curative powers.

I'm not sure I buy into this stuff and without seeing it first hand, I'm reluctant to put much faith into it. The crystal skulls are very interesting but I'm not seeing how that would stop disaster. They just look cool. It makes for a good movie though.

Armageddon is another term for the Apocalypse, End Days, etc. The end of the world.

You really believe just because some old dead guys didn't get around to making the 2013 calendar that we are gonna die? And even more bogus is the fact that you believe some crystalized skulls will save us. I'd bet my ass that those skulls are just carved from crystals that they found and then started to worship them like idols.

Some people believed that Armageddon was going to happen in 2000. In my opinion, those people were stupid. But just in case Armageddon is going to happen in 2012, I just hope KH3 will be out.

It's really all rubbish. I mean, the world ending and our only hopes of survival are 13 skulls? I mean seriously, why believe the world will end on THAT DAY when it was said the world would end on many different occasions? Don't believe everything T.V says to you. Especially the Sci-Fi channel. Sci-Fi is just a place for weird and obscure things to take place and maybe to get people to believe in those types of things. Just my opinion though. My mom watches it EVERY DAY so I do know what I mean.

Well, I certainly don't think that the skulls would save us, it just seems to be malarky to me. Who really knows when the world will end, heck it could be in 2012, or 2015 it can not really be precisely dated if you ask me.

    Okay...first up:

Armageddon - Not a thing, but the name of a place where it is believed that the final battle between Good and Evil will occur. It can also be recognised as 'Har-Magedon' which is thought to represent the Hebrew words 'Har Megiddo' meaning 'Hill of Megiddo' which is situated within Israel.

December 21 2012 - This is the day when the 'Mesoamerican Long Count Calendar' used most notably by the Mayan civilisation completes it's thirteenth 'b'ak'tun' since its supposed starting point (August 11th 3114 BC). It is a misheld belief that the Calendar ends on that day. Rather the representation of that date (August 11th 3114 BC) by the Long Count Calendar (13.0.0.0.0) shall be repeated for the first time in approximately 5,125 Solar Years.

The use of this date as the date for a great Cataclysm (which itself is merely taken from the Greek Word 'Kataklysmos' meaning 'to wash down' and is actually the Greek Expression for the 'Great Flood of Noah') is a 'New Age' belief first forecast by one 'Jose Arguelles.' This 'forecast' is considered by most mainstream Mayanist Scholars to be a misinterpretation. Rather, it is conjectured that this date will represrent a major change in the world order.

Other possible 'theories' suggest mankind going through a great shift in consciousness or a possible 'global awakening' to 'psychic connection'.

Or if you watch The X-Files, it's the day when Aliens invade.

Now, me being a Christian, I go with the simple idea that Jesus left to his disciples. Namely that the only one who knows when the world's going to end is God.

So what should those of you who may not be 'Christian' see this as? Simple, it just means that you shouldn't worry about things beyond your control. Just live your life the best you can, and when it comes to the end, be it with the rest of the world or when you're in your bed, old and grey, surrounded by your family, you can look back and say 'Yeah, I had a fantastic life.'

...I might put this as a quote in my sig. xD (LOL)

Many people have said the end of days would've come in 2000. It never came. Others said Christmas '06.

Well, we're all still here. So is the earth. =p

We should enjoy life and not worry about the 'end'. It will come anyway, so lets make the most of what we have today, right? =]

you've gotta ask yourself whose making these predictions. Its not one person, I know, but seriously, it sounds like a load of bs to me...

As you might have seen from another thread I used to be a Jehovah's Witness (its a religion that branches from Christianity). Within this religion, our Armageddon was supposed to come 1914. And then again in 1974. You know what they said to young upstart people like my mom? Dont go to college. Its not worth it. The ending is going to come. My mom unfortunately, out of ignorance and not stupidity did not go to college at the age she was supposed to. She went eventually, but it was harder on her. (Now, shes a teacher and has her Masters Degree but thats another story).

When it comes to these issues I listen respectfully, and just dismiss it. Even if it were true, I'd never live in fear.

In short I'm saying that IMO its a load of bull.

That is the best way to feel about it. Don't live your life in fear. If there will come a time when the end is near, panic when you -know- it or something. No use ruining your life holding out for the end. Have some fun instead.
