I know its argued about every other week, but how about this....TECHNO COLOUR, just flashes constantly.

It'd really liven up the premium section that's for sure.

    I WANT MY RAINBOW BACK!

    /obligatorybitchingaboutcolor

As for the actual suggestions, is there an actual way to do that? And can't rapidly flashing colors cause seizures? Wouldn't want people to go to the hospital because of KHV.

I wouldn't say no to a general color change, though, or maybe just a lighter pink.

This comes from it being hard to see on the VM headers in profiles.

A thread about the Premium Usergroup Color outside of the Premium Section?! Poppycock.

I honestly don't see a need to change it.

Was really just hoping for something not so similar to red, I'm colourblind and unless I look really hard all premium members look like sectional moderators to me.

No flashing names. I get migraine headaches from obnoxious flashing gifs.

I would not object to the rainbow names coming back.

To be honest, the only real other distinctive colour would be orange.

Which is harking back to KHV of old. I think it should be up to current Prems, since theyre the ones who have to live with it, whilst norm members will know what they're getting into.

That may be the case, and I do see your point, but in a way it's kind of a progression. Chances are, if you are hired to Sectional Moderator, you're going from pink to red, a visual and somewhat chromatic flow.

I am initially against changing the premium colour for a few reasons:

    • Indecisive decisions, be them big or small, always causes conflict and unrest. I suppose the reason why Premium has had so many color changes is because there was no official "putting a foot down" on the matter. What's not to say completely changing the usergroup's colour this time around would be the final resolution; When the pink as been a well established and generally well received choice of colour for the usergroup since late 2010. (To my knowledge. Not sure when Piss Yellow was in practice...)
    • The pin, Premium Craze, would have to be redone in order to match the new colour. Something I can imagine may not be too difficult for Chev to do, as I assume all he'd have to do is change the coloured background layer to the new colour, but it would still take time to actually do it nonetheless.
    • As odd as it sounds, pink and premium has a sort of "alliteration" about it, being two words with the letter "p."
    • Sometimes no change is good honestly. Establishes a set that shan't be compromised.

However I'll be honest. The current shade of pink is something not entirely and completely pleasant to the eyes. Pink is a colour of subtlety, elegance, and stimulating. To me, dark, very bright, and contradicting shades of pink (such as hot pink) have always seemed rather distasteful in almost any situation. The "Brink Pink as we should say in this case, is on the verge of that ledge and thus, more into the realm of red-like colour.

I would suggest something less of an eyesore, yet complements and is clearly visible on both lite and dark skins. Might I suggest a colour closer to #FF3366
    ex.

    Premium

Just a thought. There are multiple possibilities in shade of one distinct "colour", but I think it should remain in the realm of pink and be established henceforth.

The color needs to be changed to blue. Just a nice, soft blue.

I don't mind a new color change, but how about not flashing, because we don't want to give seizures to members

That would just cause confusion since administrators have blue.

    Exactly.

In all seriousness, it should be a soft color.

The principal problem with these changes is that they are quite literally an annual Premium tradition because the Premiums have changed name colours more than there have been British monarchs at this point.

Now I personally do not see anything wrong with changing the colour as necessary and I am sure the staff would not object as it would take a fairly small amount of effort, but as we can see from the extremely capricious nature of the Premium name colour, a group of people will always continue to exist who will wish for an alternative colour and this will eventually snowball to the point where the Premium name colour will again change for the Graham's Number-th time.

So my conclusion is that, indeed, if a name colour change is necessary, then by all means you may gather colour options and post another poll! I would personally not object, but I feel people are a tad tired of colour changes in general at this point. However you do not have to let my own personal feelings stop you. As for the flashing colours, that would of course be a bit problematic for sensitive members. Interesting and creative idea, however, so I must applaud that regard, good sir.

EDIT: As an addendum, I suppose this can tie into an interesting question.

For future polls and referendums on the name colour of Premiums, should normal members looking to soon become Premiums be included or no? This would mean that the polls and discussion would principally move away from the Premium section to a more public place, of course.

My personal opinion on this matter is no. As far of a stretch as it is, it would be comparable to allowing "good or staff material" premiums to have decisions in staff affairs. (Because they're going to make it on the team sometime.) A prince doesn't rule till he is king, a bird doesn't fly till it spreads its wings. Much the same as a regular member doesn't rock the premium until they are predominately one themselves.

In regards to changing it. Take "naive" experience into some sort of consideration. I have only been on KHV for about 2 years now (anniversary this month, 23rd. 8D), and so far aside from the rainbow names, the pink has been the figurehead of the usergroup. Most, if not all the members that have been online for nearly 17 months have more or less regarded the color as the chief color of Premiumhood. If we change it, all of those months and members of solid establishment will be crumbled.

My point is this, the best way to stop change is by not changing. The new will become the norm. Besides, I still don't understand the appeal of rainbow colors. It is personally distasteful on a forum despite a brief sense of originality and uniqueness. It will tire far sooner than the pink.

I say keep the pink, as I stated earlier. Those points still stand.

    I have to agree here.

However, as I previously stated, a lighter pink couldn't hurt for easier visibility on profile VM headers.
