so I don't know why, but fro some reason, my printer is only printing papers as a portrait. And it's annoying because when I try to change it to landscape, it still does portrait, and when I tried portrait to see if it would for some reason make a different, it just cut the page in half and only printed what was on the left side. I checked all of the settings, but everything is in defult. Does anyone know whats up? Because I can't turn in papers in the portrait setting this whole semester, and I can't print at the library because it's 10 cents a page, and I don't have that

Have you tried printing from different applications, or just one? I.e. if the problem is showing up in MS Word, try printing something from Paint or something.

Print from Paint? and I can't do that, because I need to keep it on word considering I have to be printing it with all the MLA formats.

What program are you trying to print from?

I'm just saying do a test print from another program, it doesn't have to be that exact document. That way we can isolate whether it's a problem with the print or the program.

well, looks like it's printing fine from the notepad. I'm guessing it's something up with Open Office

It's likely a setting within Open Office then. Try to go to Format -> Styles & Formatting, click the Page Styles icon, and see if anything is set to landscape.

If that doesn't solve the problem, though, check your printer's settings. You can access them from Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Devices and Printers, select your printer, and there should be a link to adjust the print options.
(That's in Windows 7, it's probably similar on XP & Vista)

I'll check. But I think I've already checked all of that. I don't know exactly what you just said, but I mess around and go everywhere that has to do with these kinds of things. And I have Windows 7.

Yeah, there doesn't seem to be anything different. I just don't get it. It's all set to the defult settings, so what would make it print like that?

Could you post screen shots of what options you have?

Anything that may be relevant, sounds like that would be settings on printer hardware and Open Office.

You're saying that you're making sure everything is "default" which sounds like you don't really know what you're looking for. If you post screenshots of the options pages then we might see something that needs changing.

well I know what I'm looking for, it's just that defult is landscape, with times new roman, 12 font, and all of that. Heck, no one in this family used portrait. But sure, I'll get a few screenshots
