Do you prefer re-election? Edit: sorry if this is confusing, I'm asking what do you feel is best, re-election of our current president or a new president and why?
How do I stand politically? Vertically. :B But in all seriousness, I am a socialist. I am quite liberal in my viewpoints and, admittedly, quite altruistic in my beliefs of the government's responsibilities. I believe that socialism and democracy can work together beautifully and that it will just create a lovely and great society. As for recent political events, I can really only speak for the US, but I'm very displeased with our government. These past few years it's just become so clear that the government is controlled by corporations, and exists only to serve them. They have not responded adequately to this economic downturn, and I believe some serious reform is needed if we're ever going to get back on our feet... which I don't think that Obama will unfortunately be giving us.
You're asking two entirely different questions. Which do you want answered? And what political events do you mean? I'm not sure I have much of a political stance. I don't particularly care for them as there are far more important things to be concerned about. As for my opinions on "political events"...well the Republicans trying to run for president aren't exactly what I'd call smarter than a brick. All the debates I've seen have just given me a poor outlook for the election. I wouldn't call Obama the best president but I'm not sure I'd want anyone else to beat him in an election. As for everything else going on, I don't really care at the moment.
I agree with you on that last paragraph but I feel that when it comes to Obama...people are expecting too much. I say this because he does not have absolute power which means everything he suggests or puts into action does not always get approved, especially with congress, even though majority of those actions/ideas make sense and could benefit many people. Also, I feel that our representatives need more variety or diverse input into what they think and how they act. We need to change the country's state of mind so that we can move forward. In addition, corporations need to be controlled with stricter rules/policies so that they can't take advantage or exercise corporate greed. I think a lot of people agree with you, and I do to, but in a sense I sort of care because it will affect us all whether we want it to or not.
Oh, I know--I do like him as a candidate but I can't help but be a bit disappointed. The climate in Washington right now, though, is really terrible--party politics have become really heated and it makes getting anything through nigh impossible. What we really need right now (in my opinion) is a modern-day FDR--someone that is not afraid to push the envelope and say (for lack of a more eloquent way to state this) **** the haters. I do think he will be re-elected though, simply because the Republican turnout this year is pretty piss poor. I would vote for him over any of them, but right now Rocky Anderson is looking pretty spectacular to me.
Ah, I see. Well yeah, I'm scared of what will happen if any of these candidates gets elected. And yes it's true, it's almost like everyone in Washington is against Obama and it makes it very tricky to get anything through. He has done a lot, though, despite the negativity.
