Poetry Contest November 2009

Hello, boys and girls. I'm back and I'll be judging the poetry contest again from now on. Thanks for taking over, Cariad!

This month's winner was Catch the Rain with her poem "Trick or Treat". It was deliciously creepy and had a powerful ending. Honorable mention for timexhasxgone who is a close second.

For my return as host I'd like hold a special contest. This month's theme is "Short and Sweet". Write as much as you can in five lines or less. Sounds tricky? Try your best. See you next month!

 

“Mclovin”
My heart beats with love when our day was set
a relaxing day by the bog
A time when we were wet
this is what I feel for my dog

Paradise is with you.

Light breeze sun so hot.
We're going together if you like it or not.
I don't care about the weather ran or shine.
I'll go anywhere, I will not whine.
Just the two of us together for one day, paradise.

Maybe we'll laugh or cry,
I know i'm gonna... 'sigh'
But I want one thing left true,
I wish on you, a great Taboo.

 

Misery, swallow me whole.

You cut short our bliss,
And refuse to admit,
That you wish I would stop this,
But karma is endless.​

 

Short 'n' sweet

So I was told to keep this short 'n' sweet.
So now I'm looking out of the window,
looking for inspiration in the form of sleet,
So I could write about something mushy
'n' give it a chance to grow into something rushy.

Your smooth, red surface hints
At a sweetness none can define
You nestle in trees out of Man's greedy reach
An endlessly crunchy taste, so divine.

 

Secrets in the snow;
A frozen river and what lies below.
Curiosity continues to grow
Towards the sun, we go.

The warm melody
Carried by the coldest wind
Giving peace to all​

Dark and Light​

Dark and Light two paths to take
to pose the question which choice to make.
a battle fought between the tides
a battle seen fought only in minds.
The time has come which is yours
the light of life or darknesses claws ​

In the moment of chase
I make my escape
navigate, while keeping my pace
you cannot catch me in any form or shape
I am free.

 

Wannabe Trolls~

Wannabe troll,
sifting through the SpamZone hole,
your pitiful attempt,
makes Xendran glare with contempt.

True Love Survives Death
my love, an angel by sight.
my feelings for her surpass life,
they say true love will depart after death,
but our love is stronger than that.
My love, my life, my beloved Cierra.​

 

Devil’s Advocate
Listen up people, I’ve got something to say, bout that young man you scorn day after day.
.He’s robbed and he’s swindled, cheated and lied, kill or be killed was his battle cry.
He’s done terrible things, That I won’t deny, but don’t pull that trigger unless you look him in the eye
Cause if you look past the smile, the wisecracks, the hate. You might just find that you can’t smash the plate.
He’s made bad decisions, only ones he could, born into a life that no one ever should. Alone in the dark with no one around, the nice kid grew up with his mind unsound.
Lonely and Bitter, bristling with rage, with a .45 he broke his cage.
There were people who judged him like he was less than a cow, and if they hadn’t played jury they’d be alive right now.
Why stick up for this snuffer of life? Well I hate to cause strife and I mean you no ill, but if someone doesn’t do it I ask you who will? ​

 

May We Be Free

We should dance tonight,
Forget the world we have left behind,
Gaze at the stars as they sit and shine,
As our hearts depart from our minds,
Forgiveness is something we will most certainly find.

Time
With secrets held close to heart
historys gone the future is yet to start
differet ways to travel the road
with every turn a new challenge
but don't worry it will sort itself in Time​

Only Heroes Ever Die
No true story ever ends,
No tangible truth ever lies,
No live human ever passes by,
And only heroes ever truly die.​

 

Falling Leaves

Dancing copperescent glories,
Floating down from treetop crowns.
Lilting on the wind's cold breath,
That strips the trees of golden gowns.

That has to be the shortest poem that I have ever written ^_^;.

 

I'm not great at short and sweet, but here goes nothing :P

Wind
What you have now will not last forever
It only occupies the person for an amount of time
It's just like the wind
It passes by, then it goes away​
