Poetry Contest January 2010

Happy late New Year, everyone! Guess I was more than a bit too late with closing last month's Poetry Contest... I apologise for that.
But let's get to the first contest of the year!

Last month's winner was Cariad, with a poem that laments an invertebrate's fate and manages to do so in a serious way. It was short but it was a gem, and I liked the flow a lot.

This month's first poetry contest's theme is Desire. It can cover a wide range of feelings so I'm sure you'll come up with something. Good luck!

Simple but extremely effective Obsessed. My next poem is of the desire for happiness that i made sometime ago:

It walks the darkness,
away from the light,
It's fiery black wings,
Allows him the flight,
to escape those of light

It's thundery arm,
flowing with Anguish,
just like the diaries,
who's pages were of,
Pain and hate

the wind flowed up through it,
in the rage he felt at,
those who forgot,
and those who forget,
what it is and used to be

The earth under it,
it twists and turns,
as it's rage changes to sorrow,
The sorrow he feels is beyond,
like a night eternally without rain

It's face unwarped by time or space,
filled with knowledge,wisdom,emotion,
it's face only shows one of these,
the rage of betrayal,hurt and deceit

As it walks it see's happiness,
and runs towards it full of happiness,
and yet chains bind it and pull it back,
it bursts into rage and attacks the chains,
with it's arsenal but its rage doesn't work

the lightning,the fire,the air, the earth,
mean nothing to it's binds to the darkness,
it's way to happiness is not there anymore,
and the binds release and it shows the sorrow,
he harboured protected by rage...

Rehab from Obsession

It’s the type of choice, the type of life,
Whether here or there, it’s all we have left now,
Our Past, our memory.

When we met, heaven fell to its knees,
When we talked, birds sung a beautiful melody,
When we loved, we were only one,
It’s gone now, the sight of weak heaven,
The song of harmony, dashed down.
With only a bitter-sweet taste left in my mouth.

Each dark night, when the moon is full,
I look at it and see your face again,
And cry till my tears weep, and till I dream my own dream,
Could have been changed,
But you didn’t want too let go,
You’ve been like that, since I first stepped in that whore house,
Shame. You had nice legs, and a heart to match
Neither your heart nor legs will run back to me.
The next shows on, so take a bow,
Since I’ll never know now,
Whether I love you or lust you

 

Recollection

Memories are a scene long to be forgotten.
I remember lying on the wet grass... with her,
Just staring at the twinkling stars under the moonlit night sky.
We’d sit by a tree watching the sun set crimson,

Such a wonderful feeling,
A feeling of love and ecstasy like none other,
If only I could go back to that life,
My beating heart now dying of grief.

Now, now I lay by the lake,
Just listening to the waves under the starry sky,
The sound so beautiful and charming,
If only the waves would bring her back to me.

Every morning, I stare in the luminous sky,
Feeling the heat of the sun warm my face,
As her rosy lips did mine, if only,
Time may have gone by but that only afflicted more of my pain.

If only, if only I could vanish from this world as did she
Then I could be forgotten
None who would love me,
Nor those who would mourn for me

Eternal night’s hand reaches for my heart
Ready to grasp and shroud my feelings forever
My dying heart howls to the moon
My mind pleading to be put out of its misery

Now only the silence of the cold night calms me down
The coldness of the night in which my soul finally died​

Gone.

I promised I wouldn’t cry, darling,
But the moment just proved too much,
You are my desired food; I’m starving,
I’m craving your loving touch.

We always miss things once they’re gone,
And I shouldn’t have hurt you like I did.
I could kill each moment where I blew you off,
And it’s only myself I won’t forgive.

I used to pretend that it was all your choice,
My God, how I brutally lied.
My throat is swelling at the thought of your voice,
Darling, I promised I wouldn’t cry.

I need you to help me tonight, hunny,
I don’t think I’ll make it through.
How am I supposed to ignore this desire?
This desire to love you.

 

Struggles of Love
My heart fading into the light
please don't make me let this feeling go

you hear me cry every night
isn't he a devil, miss?
oh he won't call, he should be home right now

you begin to walk away
and you hear me say

All I want is to be with you right now
oh he is not a nice husband

my hands reach for the light
your charming voice saves me from the night

he loves me

day goes to night
oh he's angry
they're fighting already

note: yes some lyrics were ripped and she desires to be with her old husband but she meets and new guy and wants him to stay with her

Hope, was it for you?
are your memories yet still?
Where is your lasting desire?
The one that burned the world under your feet.

Is it lost under the warmth, the temptress?
We were once very clear; very bright,
this happiness is merely blight;
where is your lasting desire?

I've looked, and I've searched
the corners of this dull castle
for the desire I so speak.

I've yet to see the beauty.
I've yearned to be free,
I've started to lose faith.
I've been losing myself.

One last prayer:
Save us from complacency
Save us from ourselves.

Return our desires, so pure and true.
we weep for a future that speaks thruth.
Return our desires, so noble and pure.

Where is our lasting desire?

desire isn't merely carnal desire, right? So, I took my own spin on it, even if it came out kinda bad.
