PlayStation Portable - Metal Connecting Rods

I dropped my PSP last night when I got up from the couch in the living room, which luckily wasn't too high of a fall, but it was enough so the disc tray lid became detached.

After a while, my mom finally got the disc tray lid back on, but in the process, the metal rods that move when you open the disc tray became detached, and we couldn't get them reconnected.
Luckily, the games still work, but how do we get them reconnected?

Also, to clarify, it's the rods that go in on the sides of the disc tray lid.

This can be locked. I took off the lid entirely yesterday and fixed them that way.
