This isn't related to my The Spam Zone thread, it just made me think of this. I'm not sure how often power maintenance is, if ever, but do you think they should be fair and put a global warning on the TV, saying power maintenance will begin in, say, 15 minutes and repeat the scrolling of it a few times? That would give people that may be working on something important, such as a document, time to finish up and save their work or just save their work and work on it later. Thoughts?
Done correctly you should either experience nothing or only a momentary loss of power. Most maintenance is even done with the wires still live. So no, I don't think that merits any warning. Maybe for areas where the grid is too thin to do a relay and they need to cut power for some reason. But even then I don't really feel it is necessary; you know the grid has surges and blackouts and all that, it is something you should just be prepared for.
