I've seen this on some forums and thought it would be cool to have a Photoshop Challenge section in the Graphic Art section, in which someone posts a challenge in which a photo is edited with some kind of theme and everybody contributes their own creation. Yay/Nay?
OH YEAH! AND WE COULD CALL IT THE....THE....SIGNATURE OF THE WEEK! AND NO ONE COULD PARTICIPTE IN IT lol no we really dont need it imo
That's limited to signatures though :| And this wouldn't be weekly. Anyone could post a challenge thing anytime. It'd be a nice way to see how creative people can get with Photoshop and a theme to follow.
You can use the Competition Area in Spam Zone. Right now it's full of all sorts of nonsense but we've had challenges in there in the past. We've talked about LP of the week as well, but right now I don't think adding any more sections for graphics competitions is a good idea considering how dead Signature of the Week is.
This. I don't have photoshop yet,my friend was actually gonna give it to me because she had extra;but I don't yet and neither do some other members. Some members might feel excluded,and it's honestly not needed. Although if it is put in graphic art or spamzone,it might be interesting at first to be apart of or look at.
I'd hope that it doesn't have to be just photoshop used for the reasons people already have posted. Paint Shop Pro, Corel and other programs are also quite capable. I don't see the idea as a bad one and it could be fun to see what people come up with. Someone would need to of course start it off, and give it a try in the competition area of the spam zone like Misty suggested. If it goes over well, it could always be moved later.
I only meant Photoshop for the title and such. I know that (obviously) not everyone has it, so they could just use any photo editing software. Eh whatever, sorry for the lame suggestion.
It's not a lame suggestion if people would want to try it out. Give it a whirl and see where it goes. What some people say here may not be the same as the interest others may have if something is available to do and not all responses were negative.
That'd be more like a thread, rather than a whole section. I like the idea, actually. Go ahead and make the thread in the main graphics area and I'll sticky it if it works out.

I'd say the reason SOTW is mostly dead is because you do it weekly. If you just have a SOTM, it gives people more time to enter into it and more judging time. If you guys want, I can help out and run a SOTM for you.
