Famitsu magazine announced Ace Attorney 6 today for the 3DS. The game will-- Your Honor, the prosecution was just about to make a completely baseless claim about the game...when no details have even been announced yet! If the defense would let me finish, I was going to say that Ace Attorney 6 will be playable at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show, which takes place from September 17 to 20. This has been confirmed. Objection sustained. The defense will allow the prosecution to finish their statement! (Ugh... Way to go, Phoenix.) Furthermore, Famitsu will have a six-page interview with its developers in the near future. There is no confirmation as of yet whether the game will come west-- Who's making baseless claims now? Ace Attorney 6 actually has been confirmed for a western release! Capcom just said so today! Ngooooooh! M-maybe so...but aside from that, nothing has been revealed about the game! Nothing! ... Okay, yeah, that's true. -edit- I found new information, pals! This ain't over yet! [Famitsu scans has been added to the Court Record.] Spoiler: Check ... ... ... ...I don't suppose anyone here understands Japanese, do they? Not to worry, pal! These magazine scans came with a translation, see? [Famitsu scans information updated in the Court Record.] "Ace Attorney 6 takes place in a mysterious country outside of Japan, a first for the main-numbered series. Phoenix Wright visits this country for a certain reason, and he unluckily gets involved in a case. It also mentions that the people in this country have some sort of belief in the spirits of the dead." "The courtrooms in this unnamed country seem to use some sort of “Water Mirror” that is set on the floor, and Ace Attorney 6 will use it as part of its system. The image shows how the upper-screen has images and and keywords on the water, and the lower-screen shows parts of the testimony and a presenting option." "To the right is a character named Bokuto Tsuani, a cheerful priest in training who also works as a tour guide for a living. He loves explaining things about the country as a tour guide, and once he starts talking about it, he has a habit of not being able to stop." "And finally, the scan shows a mysterious character on the bottom part of the page. She’ll show up in front of Phoenix Wright, and it remains unknown whether she’s a friend or foe, but we know that she’s not a prosecutor, witness, nor judge." (Hmm... Maybe we can find the truth behind this new game after all...)
ok a few things 1) this is the best OP ever I love you 2) SO EXCITED, I suppose this was more or less a given since iirc AA5 performed very well in Japan, but still! 3) Really relieved and pleasantly surprised to hear of a western release especially! 4) Not sure if I'm happy or bummed that Phoenix appears to be the main character again. Mostly I just want to see Maya (my favorite character, cry... those Famitsu pages are making me a bit hopeful), but it seemed like the backlash toward Apollo caused Capcom to drag Phoenix back into the limelight, even though his story arc was wrapped up pretty well. It's been a while so I could be misremembering things I guess, but while giving him a bigger role again post-AA4 technically works, his personal involvement in the story seemed kinda over with by then. :v I missed out on AA5 so I'm still unaware of any developments that would have changed that. Great to hear of a new main series title, in any case.
Been a while since I've updated the thread bc let's be honest how can i top that op BUT YEAH NEWS HAS FOLLOWED SINCE SEPTEMBER The mysterious new setting is the Kingdom of Kurain! Kurain follows a religion focused around spirits and psychic mediums; their queen is also a medium. The Kurain Supreme Court is where trials take place, where defense attorneys are unheard of and an Oracle of the Spirit called upon by mediums makes the final judgment. Apollo Justice will return as a playable character, staying behind in Japan while Phoenix is off in the Kingdom of Kurain. Athena Cykes will also return, though in what capacity is as of yet unclear. Free investigation is back, after being absent from Dual Destinies. Prosecutor Gaspen Payne has become the top prosecutor in the Kingdom of Kurain after being pushed out of Japan's legal circle. The woman from the Famitsu scans is Leyfa Padma Kurain, and is the Kingdom's princess and a medium. She can project a victim's memories in their last moments before death onto a water mirror in the courtroom, along with text describing the victim's five senses. Leyfa then interprets the video and text in a revelation known as the God's Divine Message, which cannot be overturned, as it is not only the witness of the deceased, but also because the religious Kingdom wouldn't allow such heresy. However, that doesn't constrain Phoenix from pointing out contradictions in Leyfa's interpretation...
Some new tidbits from Nintendo Dream magazine: The developers are carefully examining how they present hints to the player following complaints that AA5 was too easy. The difficulty of the Spirit Vision system is being tweaked following criticism of the TGS demo of the game. All returning characters from AA5 are receiving brand new 3D models. [x]
Most excellent~ I'm curious about the writing this time around, looks like Yamazaki isn't doing it. I hope they're not involving too many people in the process; that's a definite recipe for poorly focused output. :v ...Also at this point if Maya doesn't show up in this game I will riot
Laaate but MAYA CONFIRMED She'll reunite with Phoenix in Kurain, her training complete, and will rejoin him as his assistant for at least one case. More deets: Ace Attorney 6 takes place a year after Dual Destinies. Preorders of the game will include a short extra case in Kurain with Edgeworth as the prosecutor, and a short extra case in Japanifornia with Klavier Gavin as the prosecutor. Pearl will also return! Phoenix, Apollo, and Athena will all have DLC outfits--Furio Tigre, a boarding school uniform, and a Cafe Tres Bien uniform, respectively. This is Nayuta Sadmadhi, an international prosecutor hailing from Kurain. He'll be involved in cases there and in Japanifornia. He believes that trials are rituals to mourn the souls of the victims, and that the sinner's judgment will bring the victims salvation. So naturally, he sees lawyers as impeding the salvation of the victims, and challenges lawyers with hostility...all while maintaining his soft, calm, polite demeanor. Leyfa will also appear in both locations. The Mood Matrix will return, though Athena's role is relegated to assistant. Box aaaart~ The game will hit Japan on June 9! And to whet everyone's appetites until then, here's a subtitled animated prologue to the game!
Moar returning characters HOORAY Trucy Wright, Ema Skye, AND Robert Downey, Jr. are all in the game! Ema has finally achieved her dream of working in forensic science, and not a moment too soon, as Trucy has been arrested for a fatal accident in one of her stage shows. RDJ (Kanenari Shinoyama) is a producer related to the case.
Ace Attorney 6 is officially coming west as Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice! The game will launch exclusively on the Nintendo eShop in North America and Europe this September. Here's the English trailer: Also, Miles Edgeworth and Simon Blackquill will each appear during Case 3.
