Does peace really mean a time when no fighting is occuring? Or is a time when the preparations for the next war has already begun?

I think that peace is only a time to prepare for another war. If it isn't than why do we need to make any advancements in weaponry?

Violence isn't the answer, but it still happens everyday.

I think peace is when there isnt any violence or fighting... It could mean that a war is about to happen but I dont think thats what peace really means.

    The meaning of peace:

i see peace as nothing more than a moment of PARANOIA... <_< i see it written ALL OVER the US history books.. and it makes me sad... peace is just the small moment when some1 says... chill, and the otehr one agrees... but keeps eyeing eacher to make sure the "peace" exists... and eventutally that "eyeing" will lead to another war... =S
the never is any peace. only paranoia...

i would talk in detail.. but i gotta shower now.. <_< ill come back l8er

Whenever I hear teh word peace..... I always think that there is no such thing called peace. We always had war in the history and now. WW1, WWII, Civil war, REvolutionary war, soldiers in Iraq, I stand by my words and say there is no such thing as peace.

Peace, yes, is a time when we are preparing for war in our current point in time. That's how it is in the world today.

But, in my opinion, peace is complete harmony between persons of the world where everyone is accepted, and we can all get the fudge along. lol

Well by that logic, war is just preparing for peace. Peace really is a period of harmony and understanding between the parties involved, at least for those that want it. If you're scheming and plotting, or paranoid about the opposing side during peaceful times, your paranoia may force the hand of the other side and give them the impression that you never wanted peace to begin with. It's a half empty or half full deal.

If peace is a time when there is no violence and preparations for war, then will it ever exist for a long time.

Why can't people just settle their differences with others?

Because we're all different, and we're not all going to understand from one single, unified perspective. The ironic part is that either side always likes to think of themselves as the heroes in a war and that the other is a bloodthirsty evil. Compare CNN and Al Jazeera t.v. broadcasts and try to make out who's "good" and who's "bad".

Then there will always be a war between two groups or more. Eventually we'll wipe out our own race because of these differences.

Peace and harmony are only words, nothing more and nothing less.

Well that's just one side of the coin. There could always be peace at any moment. it may be naive to think like that, but then again it's the same to think that war will end up ravaging the planet and ending all that we know. True peace or harmony is simply impossible, but there are amazing shades of gray in between.

peace is when everyone is able to work together and get a long, but that won't happen for a long time.. though it is very slim that there will be another World War as most countries are friends

Hmm, this topic really can make a person think...darn I'm going to give myself a headache, with all of this logic reasoning going through my mind.

All I can say is, that peace is different to every person. Like peace can stand for a nation not being at war, or not having problems within itself. But peace, can also be a persons inner thoughts in their mind. Like, I do yoga, and I find myself in my own little place of peace. Where no one else can intrude and I feel safe, without feeling confined.

Depends on how you look at it. People will always be at war, it's a sad fact, we are too judgmental, greedy, and needy. We judge others, because of our own faults, we're greedy, because we always want more then the other person, and we always need new things, like expanding territories for my people to live. So it's up to you how you look at it.

If true peace can not possibly exist then why do we call a time when no violence is occuring peace?

Couldn't there be another word that better describes it? Will injustice ever end?

Our flaws will eventually lead to our end, but will we be able to change in time to stop it and create a form of true peace? One that's possible?

The other day my school has dedicated itself to peace on Earth.

And this one woman said that peace was not a time of no violence but a time when all the factors that lead up to war are gone.

So does anyone agree with this?

ahhh, a time when my name comes into some use! :D

War to Peace, Peace to War
You can't have one without the other
You are a fool to believe that you can only have one or the other

Because everyone has their own dream. The people who pursue their own dreams are likely to collide with someone elses. Dreams are meant to be pursued by humans, for centuries people have dreamed of peace, of equality, eternal love between humanity and much more. But there also humans who do not want peace, because they gain profit in war, and so these 2 dreams collide and each are ready to fight for what they believe in.
It's not the nicest thing, but its reality, and you can't change reality. Its your choice of what you dream of, and whether your ready to fight for it.

Whether a war starts between countries, or family feuds or just internal harmony is turned upside down, it is impossible to believe that peace will always last and the same goes for war. What we should be thankfu becuase of war, is that peace will eventually come, even for a small time, it's worth savouring.
