Here they are in the link below: http://oscar.go.com/nominees In my opinion, it's a pretty predictable list but can go any way for the winners. Anime News Network also made it clear that there are no Japanese animation nominees: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-01-10/no-anime-nominated-for-oscars Hmm... well, let's hope for next year, I guess. Who do you think is gonna win this year? Oscars air February 24th.
Nominees are more or less what I expect from the Oscars. Unsure how I feel about Seth Macfarlane hosting though.
He's probably the only reason to watch, imo. The Oscars are basically the same thing every year anyways.
I'm really surpirsed that Rise of the Guardians was not nominated since it was a really good movie and the animation and characters was great too
Yeah. To be honest, though, the Oscars is really more of a live action movie thing rather than truly highlighting animation's achievements. Hence, probably why no anime movies were nominated (although, no recent ones that were spectacular come to mind either).
Not a surprising list. Some disappointment, but ever since I heard that Seth MacFarline was going to be hosting, I completely turned myself off from the Oscars. I hate him and his brand of humor with a passion. I've become rather more fond of the Golden Globes lately.
He does make some good points while satirizing certain subjects, though. He's just pretty friggen' obnoxious about it 90% of the time. :| The Golden Globes have also been sort of producing the same pattern of nominees like the Oscars have. I mean, it's a predictable (and often mediocre) list for most other awards shows nowadays. I just tend to get turned off whenever a movie, before it even comes out *coughLesMiserablescough* has their trailers list every single one of their nominations from random awards ceremonies and honors. It's just basically telling them that they should like it when they see it. Ah well, but I do see one nomination from Ted for best original song. Looks like somebody's not only gonna just be hosting...
Ops, double post, but here are the winners of last night's Awards Ceremony: 1. Best Picture: “Argo.” 2. Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, “Lincoln.” 3. Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, “Silver Linings Playbook.” 4. Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz, “Django Unchained.” 5. Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway, “Les Miserables.” 6. Directing: Ang Lee, “Life of Pi.” 7. Foreign Language Film: “Amour.” 8. Adapted Screenplay: Chris Terrio, “Argo.” 9. Original Screenplay: Quentin Tarantino, “Django Unchained.” 10. Animated Feature Film: “Brave.” 11. Production Design: “Lincoln.” 12. Cinematography: “Life of Pi.” 13. Sound Mixing: “Les Miserables.” 14. Sound Editing (tie): “Skyfall,” ‘’Zero Dark Thirty.” 15. Original Score: “Life of Pi,” Mychael Danna. 16. Original Song: “Skyfall” from “Skyfall,” Adele Adkins and Paul Epworth. 17. Costume: “Anna Karenina.” 18. Documentary Feature: “Searching for Sugar Man.” 19. Documentary (short subject): “Inocente.” 20. Film Editing: “Argo.” 21. Makeup and Hairstyling: “Les Miserables.” 22. Animated Short Film: “Paperman.” 23. Live Action Short Film: “Curfew.” 24. Visual Effects: “Life of Pi.” Welp, most of these fulfilled my predictions. Seth MacFarlane as a host was interesting to say the least. And Disney rules the world of animation again. But overall, I think there was a healthy amount of good films for this year's competition.
